Does anyone here, post simply to tick up post numbers? I mean, you might start new posts, not caring if others reply. You might reply to posts simply to tick up another number OR, the biggest one of all, wander over to the new members' page and welcome all the noobs simply to clock up your own points - and to be sociable of course?

Of course not - stupid question. Forget I asked!! !

I've been here since 2004. During my first 7 years here I was an avid poster, but I had a lot to day. I didn't post just to up my post count. And another thing. How can people possibly forget that you've asked that question if you asked it in the first place?

Huh??? Don't mind me. I was just thinking back to something I'd read some time ago.

"Forget I asked" is a figure of speech people use when they mean "Don't worry about it and (try to) forget I asked". Surely in 39 years, you've come across that expression countless numbers of times in real life, movies, television... elsewhere! It's a very very common one.

When I was 12/13 I would post to raise my count, though I never post for that reason anymore.

I've thought about it but I guess I've always got too much real stuff to talk about. It also seems kind of false and pointless anyway, like cheating.

I always have something on my mind when I post. The posts will accumulate, anyway. Post counts don't matter to me.

Personally, I am still in ?self-discovery? mode, after being diagnosed a year ago. The topics on WP give me something to reflect on and then write about. Just about everything I post here also goes into my journal. Including this reply.

OP---talking (posting) can release anxiety and also become a mechanical movement very fast. Going from idea to idea can have an alive quality in that there is superficially more variety, but it also can break down the possibility to focus and have the kind of insight whch will affect and can even transform brain function.Consciously not speaking, so waiting and staying with an idea and actively thinking about it before speaking can help a person to hoe the field between dimensions in preparation to sowing. There is a difference between being a pig in terms of speaking about this that and anything, as if you can grow real food in that kind of field and making a conscious interconnection. There are so many messages I have related to on wp, but generally I rein myself in and do not reply as I know superificiall;y I may seem to others and feel myself to be connecting if I do reply, actually I would be setting a mechanical downhill pattern and leaking my own vital energy. Moreover, conscious waiting before speaking, especially on the internet, can create a very powerful kind of magnetic field that actually facilitates people making various interconnections in themselves and with others.

Same, I just read the threads here sometimes and post if I actually feel like I could contribute something different and useful to a thread. Sometimes I also post to seek help/support.

When I was very close to my 1,000th post, I looked for topics I could give a reply to so I could bump my count because I was excited to be able to post my own rank. I never posted random or meaningless things to up my count though; everything I said had a purpose, I just hunted harder than usual for topics I could reply to. Now I rarely look at my post count: after you become a veteran with your own rank, there's no purpose to posting just to bump the numbers; they don't get you anything.

Yes, that's very true.

I find my point status very similar to my special interests in real life.
Very important to me. Others couldn't give a toss and it's a very sad day when you realize that. I remember thinking "How could they not be interested in this? How could they not see the wonderment of it all?"

I'm still pretty new to the forum.

I reply to posts that are only relevant to me. Other times I create new tropics because I need feedback on something specific.

I did some welcoming to get over 1000 posts as I prefer my own custom rank.
