Today I ordered this through The Book Depository.

My interest in comes from my experience of taking the amino acid GABA for 3 weeks now - the best 3 weeks of my life - so I want to learn all I can about it. No anxiety for 21 days!! ! A lifetime record :)

If you have read The Edge Effect, did you experiment with the different suggestions for the different neuro-deficiencies it outlines? (There are some good summaries online)

If you did, what was your experience?

And has anyone else here found that taking GABA has stopped their anxiety in its tracks? (I can't be the only one on WP to have had this happen???)

It has been life-changing for me. Energy and motivation just skyrocketed. Haven't had any negative effects.

I haven't read it but I will.

In the meantime, are you taking any prescription meds? Any possibility of them crossing GABA?

No, just GABA. (I take non-prescription painkillers for back and hip pain every day, and lots of vitamins/minerals and omega 3s).

This morning I found: THAT ONE WOLF is a blog online which records the day to day effect of taking GABA by a man with Aspergers. His experiences pretty much echo mine, though he has been on it much longer. Worth having a look at (IMO)

I got the book and I've looked through it - will read soon. I was looking for reactions between GABA and Xanax. I did a pretty good search but only found Xanax in a list of drugs prescribed for panic but absolutely no mention of interaction. Whereas the book says often that GABA and Prozac are okay together. So do searches on line.

But if the book and Google are eager to mention Prozac and completely silent on interaction for Xanax, I wonder if that means something terrible.

I really want to try GABA, this isn't the first time I hear of it. But I've been on Xanax for years. I decrease and increase dosage so as not to have to go too high. I have tapered off it before - I go out of control and start screaming in the street etc.

What to do ... what to do ...
