...it was sensory torture! Someone gave it to me and now I'm grinding my teeth to get rid of that caramel feeling.

Does anyone else have food sensitivities due to sensory issues?

Yes. I could never eat Arctic Roll which was like a Swiss Roll but filled with ice-cream.
There was the soft jam spread sponge then the cold ice-cream.
A complete nightmare.

Mashed potatoes (and anything with a similar texture) make me gag.

Curley whirlies, stick toffee, anything that won't get OFF OF MY DAMN TEETH. Also some vegetables such as broccoli, the texture of the leaves is horrible.

am exactly the same with mars bars, give it a try battered and deep fried ;) though it might be difficult getting hold of that being in london, its supposed to be a northern thing, mum used to make mine in a deep fat fryer.

any vegetables, fruits, plain milk, tomato sauce, brown sauce, mayonaise, salad cream, cheese, curry, nuts etc....absolute sensory no goes for self.

Yes. I had something recently, I can't even remember what it was but I was horrified at that texture and it took me a good few hours to recover from that. Sometimes just looking at certain food textures will nauseate me.

I have never had a Mars Bar but from what you guys say, I think I might stay away from them.

I just did some research:

It is called blancmange in English (which comes from the French for "white dish.")

It is a custard-type dessert.

Never had it myself. It doesn't seem like it would cause sensory difficulties--but who knows?

I hate anything with nougat, including Mars Bars. I hate the taste, and I hate the mouth feel.

Caramac bars (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/e ... aramac.jpg) .... even that image is making me gag.

I can not stand the chalky texture, the horrible overly sugar taste that seems to leave my mouth feeling like a desert. I can't even pick one of those up let alone eat one.

Your mention of chalky texture reminded me of another candy I hate: those little Valentine's Day hearts with messages on them. Ugh. Those things are gross.
