I have no idea if I have AS or not. For some reason, mum won't tell me these things! I don't even know if I'm diagnosed with it! I better ask her tommorow...

I think you should ask her. You have the right to know, and it's wrong if she hides it from you.

Oh...do you see a doctor such as a counselor/psychologist/psychiatrist/therapist?

If your Mom won't tell you, then you can call those people and ask and they'll tell you.

Do you talk to her at all? Does your mother?

Very rarely. We have to go see her every two months or something!

You've been here for a while, do you show any of the symptoms others do? By all means though, as the psychiatrist, etc... They usually don't give medicines without checking for such things.

Well you wouldn't be taking tablets for AS, but maybe for an associated condition (if you do have AS). Your mom may not want you to feel labeled by a title like AS. Maybe she wants you to be yourself. Ask her or ask the therapist.

I think you are old enough, at 15, to know one way or another so ask your mother and tell her that if she doesn't tell you, you will find out another way. Alternatively, see your normal doctor, if you have one, and discuss the issue with him. I think it is insane that your mother witholds this from you.

I think I might have AS, as I'm not good in social situations...

Shy people also have a hard time in social situations, as do extreme introverts. There are other pieces to the AS puzzle. It's really best to talk to your doctor or therapist about this. You don't want to convince yourself you have this only to find out you don't. That would just confuse you more. But, whatever it is, you are certainly welcome here. We've all been through our rounds of these things when we were your age so we can relate even if it ends up that you have something different.

As one member's tag says, "None of us fit in with the group." That's how we know we belong here.
