My short story about AS (GCSE)
This is my non-fiction story for GCSE. It my English teacher says that I should get someone to prof read it for me and check for errors and make suggestions. I thought that I should let you guys have a go first. my friends my buddies.
Finding out
This is about my journey to eventually lead me to find out that I have Asperger Syndrome. All of what I have written is only the start of the beginning. Without this discovery, nobody would have made this discovery on my behalf and nothing would ever improve. I would be crudely compared with someone who did not have Asperger but had a collection of attitude problems by those who think that they might have the answer.
It was another day at home, playing one of my favourite computer games Star-Craft on the internet. It is a strategy game where one builds a large army and set them upon the enemy. With three different types of army to choose from, there is often a big debate about which type of army is better. Some armies use long-range tanks and nukes while others use matter transporters and units with forcefields. My favourite army, The Zerg, can I use hordes of mutant aliens, much like in the film Starship Trooper, to overwhelm the enemy. My strategy is to build faster then the enemy thus outnumbering them.
The truth is all the types of army in the game appear to have an unfair advantage over the other, but in reality they are equally balanced. I thought to myself that the same logic must apply to all types of people to, if it did not, those types of people would have died out with the dinosaurs. This goes a long way to explaining for example why dyslexia is so common, even amongst people who are very intelligent. Most people would consider dyslexia a weakness that came with no benefits at all, despite there being a book written called Gift of Dyslexia.
I always struggle with the spelling and grammar, it always seem to be inconsistent. That wasn’t the only problem I had as my communication skills were just as bad also. I simply could not bond with other people like the way most people can do so naturally. This problem was to continue for several years with nothing really improving very much. The only thing that would change is the fact that I am getting older with people my age marrying, having children or getting richer or better paid jobs. I had to do something about as I did not want to spend the rest of my life poor and alone.
It would be unwise for me to continue as I had done before. By just being myself and going with the flow just does not work for me. People are so ready to give advice that had worked for them but does not work for everyone. Instead of trying to behave like one of the pack animals, I would try to gain better understanding of them and learn about myself so that I can find a logical and practical solution. If I didn’t do this, I would end up being like that type of army in the game Starcraft that appeared weak simply because no one had any proper understand to use it effectively.
Eventually I did learn that I have Asperger Syndrome. For me this meant that I was not a pack animal, not a hunter or gatherer, but a type of human, a researcher, a person who is not confined by the thought limitation confines of culture, social and religious narrow minded viewpoints that most people except as the truth of the universe.
I'll take edit it for you and send it back in a PM.
Do you use American English or British English (ex. Britain, Aus., NZ)? I'm asking because the spelling of certain words will vary depending on where you are.
Zanne

GCSE - General Certificate of Secondary Education. A GCSE is a type of examination expressed as one or more exam papers (dependant on subject) and one or more pieces of coursework (again depending on the subject. They are taken in secondary schools in Great Britain when you are 16 years old.
I took 12 GCSE's:
French - 1 GCSE
English - 3 GSCE's - English speaking, English Language and English Literature
Maths - 1 GCSE
Science - 2 GCSE's
IT - 1 GCSE
Woodwork - 1 GCSE
Art - 1 GCSE
Geography - 1 GCSE
Psychology - 1 GCSE
I took my Psychology one as part of my A level college course. These are the next step up from GCSE's in this country and are optional as opposed to mandatory, like GCSE's.
I hope this clarifies what GCSE's are for you.
