Or actually buy it, then realize you will never ever possibly ever in your lifetime use it?

I've been getting better at catching myself before I buy lately, but why the stupid impulses to begin with?

Nope. If I buy something, I use it immediately. If it's food, I eat it immediately. I'm not one for hording.

The Squid is prone to impulse purchases. We do however use everything we buy. We cannot recall a time where we bought something just to have it. Strange behavior from you. 8O

No, but I hate buying things and find it pretty difficult.

No, I'm the opposite. I buy things that I need and then get buyer's remorse and return them before I get to actually use them... then usually feel bad that I didn't get to keep the nice new things but also relieved that I didn't spend the money after all. Most of my clothes were bought more than 5 years ago or gifted by family. The only thing I do spend money on is food because even if I do get buyer's remorse for having an expensive meal I can't return it at least! My husband gets really angry at me sometimes when I fret way too much over money we've spent.

I can get pretty spendy if I have money, although I've gotten better recently at enjoying having money rather than spending it. I occasionally buy things without sufficiently considering how I'll use them, but I do use them. I have some DVDs in unopened packages, but I didn't buy them to watch immediately. I bought them because special interest DVDs frequently go out of print, and I don't want to miss my chance to own them or pay extortionate prices for them later.

I think it comes down to learning to enjoy having money. It can't compare to spending it for intensity of pleasure, but it does prevent that awful feeling of not having money I need to do something important. Also, I can enjoy the feeling of knowing that I could handle an emergency or take advantage of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

I dislike shopping.

There are times when I see a nice shirt or something--and want to buy it. Most of the time, I stanch the impulse; rarely, however, I buy the shirt or whatever. I do experience "buyers' remorse" in these instances.

If I'm in a street celebration or something--and I smell sausage and peppers or something of that ilk, I'll feel a pressing urge to purchase that and eat it.

JrJones: Out of linguistic curiosity: are you from the Pacific Northwest? The adjective, "spendy," is traditionally noted to be a Pacific Northwest usage. I'm wondering if it's spreading to other places, though. I've never heard anybody actually use it in speech. The term "sliding pond" never made it out of the outer boroughs of New York City. Nor did "hero" for a submarine sandwich.

I can't see myself buying stuff I don't absolutely need, or isn't totally practical.

I don't live in the Pacific Northwest, but my sister and several friends have moved up there. I probably picked it up from them.

I do not buy things if I am not going to use them. When I want to buy something, then I feel bad for wasting money. At same time, I am happy that I do not have a lot of money, otherwise all of the money would be wasted on games that I like.

Every once in a while I see something that I wanna get if not just for the reason to "geek out" to see what the item really all about (see how it works take it apart etc) once the interest passes the item sits in the closet or I toss it. Tho thankfully I don't have a strong enough compulsion to piss away money on random object(s) that I know I wont use just necessities and every once in a while something for entertainment...

I sometimes buy things to collect them. Music and games mostly (as it seems that legally buying useful digital movies is impossible here). I think i currently have 400 games on Steam or something, and tens of thousands of songs. I haven't played all the games or heard all the songs yet.

I have been known to buy weird electronic components and gadgets 'just in case they come in useful someday', the last example was a switch that was activated by an electromagnet. Sometimes years later I'll think of a use for the part and then go straight to it in the cellar.

Such is the life of the electronics geek 8)

Have done that on occasion. Thank fully it's not that often. I always think I will use it when I am buying it but sometimes it ends up not being exactly what I thought it would be. Usually I will try to return it if that is the case.

I can totally recognize that, - only not with electronics (that´ll come), but wood and tools.
