why do people get irritated when I whistle a Christmas tune during the summer? I know it is really out of context and not the "appropriate" time of the year but I can't help myself, I just like the jingle. Im not really thinking of Christmas, but I do think of snow. I just like the tune as if it were any other song.

I tend to do this as well and people just look at me weird. My favourite is "White Christmas." I like to sing it just like Bing Crosby.

Well, people like myself are so sick of hearing those same annoying songs over and over again. Its a natural reaction.

Well actually, Christmass in July is an actual thing. It's a Dutch tradition (I don't know if the Dutch still do it or not) to celebrate a sort of mini Christmas on July 25. I love that because that's my birthday!

Once I heard an ice cream truck in June playing "jingle bells."

Hands up who else thought "but it's June not July!" when reading this thread title?

Some people believe that it is bad luck to sing or play Christmas songs when out of season. I am one to follow some of these ''bad luck'' superstitions (also like putting an umbrella up indoors) because I have been quite unlucky lately and I feel threatened by bad luck.

I once got told it's bad luck to be superstitious.

Seriously though, I am not superstitious in the slightest. I've never understood how an unrelated action or inaction can have any bearing on future events. My favourite number is 13 fwiw.

Speaking of Christmas in July. How many of you like Christmas lights to be up all the time (especially the all white ones.)?. In just about every room in my house, I have all white icicle Christmas lights strung around the perimeter of each room and use them as my main source of lighting. I like the shadowless ambient light that they give off.

Me! Sadly I don't have any working string lights up right now, the ones I had quit working and it is such a pain to fix them. I have some new packs of icicle lights around somewhere, need to find them and put them up.

And I thought I was the only one to sing Christmas tunes the odd time in the summer months....

Guess I'm in good company :D

I really like the colored lights and I'm thinking about putting them in my dorm room just as a decoration. I also find them very calming.
