So some researchers have found an FDA approved drug that treats LFA in mice. I looked up the drug on Wikipedia and it has a very good chance of damaging your adrenal cortex. I've known people with Addison's. Going from Asperger's to Addison's does not strike me as a good trade.

Well I know some people are going to try this as an off label use. I'd like to here what the results are if anyone tries. Honestly, I think this might be a breakthrough in treating cognitive impairment not ASD. Most Aspies are not cognitively impaired and may not see much benefit from this drug.

Sorry all, too new to post links.

the article sounds interesting, but will never understand how they think mice operate similar to humans and just because it works on mice behavior it doesnt mean it will do the same thing on us.
am all for having medications that improve a persons quality of life but not to change a person because it makes life easier for other people, which am worried is how this drug woud be used by parents of young kids who think their LF or HF child is a tragedy.

NB;no aspies are cognitively impaired [if that refers to intellectual disability] to be properly diagnosed with AS they have to have had an IQ of over seventy, which is why they are known as HFA,by comparison LFA refers to those of us on the spectrum who have a profesionaly assessed equaly balanced PIQ and VIQ under seventy and on top of that;a load of functioning assessments carried out that show a low functioning profile.
no drug will cure our ID unless physical changes can be made,a ID cure is something we will only ever see in flowers for algernon.

It sounds dangerous now but what I read said that maybe in the future they will be able to make a similar drug without the damage.
