Last year I read a text message that my sister has been telling lies about me to my brothers friend and telling her to avoid me. This past week I overheard my brother tell his other friend to not tell me "too much".

I feel like my family isolates me.

Why would they do this?

No idea why, but I feel your pain.

My brother has autism as well but he's considered by my parents to be "the gentle soul who never hurts anyone and gets in his own way more than anyone else's".

In my experience he's just a very cunning and sneaky bastard who exploits that exact idea people have about him so he can coast through life without having to take any responsibility. For example with using kitchen appliances, he won't use any unless someone else is going to use it too, like making grilled cheese sandwiches, and depending on if he uses it first or last will either claim "-you- got it out of the cabinets and used it first so -you'd- have to clean it up anyway if he didn't use it" or "-you- used it last, so -you- have clean it up because he was "already helpful" by leaving it out". My parents will always choose his side and sometimes I even find myself cleaning two different things at the same time for contradictory reasons.

Another example is that a while back our neighbours came to complain about the noise at night. Even though being told numerous times to be more quiet, my brother doesn't give a damn and will laugh/scream at his computer and storm down the stairs at 4 in the morning. Now this is his business in a way, but he went ahead and told the neighbours that it's -me- who makes the noise at night and that he would personally make sure I'd be more quiet at night. This turned into a big fight between me and my brother and parents because I want to go tell the neighbours that it isn't me, but my brother, but I'm not allowed and have been threatened by my parents I'll be kicked out if I go "share our problems with the neighbourhood". I've always been friendly and nice to our neighbours, but since my brother blamed me and still continues making the noise himself, they barely say "hi" to me any more.
