It's like I'm being stroked very gently and my hairs stand on end.

It's not like a shivering feeling, I find it really soothing.

It feels a bit like when a cat rubs against your legs.

It's been going on for years now and I really can't find anything about it on the internet because I don't properly know how to explain it.

I just wondered if this is a common thing really.

And I would much appreciate it if anyone could tell me what it is.

Is it a phantom cat?

Some people seek it out, they try to trigger a response... Happens to me a lot, I hate it, it messes with me. It's like a mini sensory overload. Makes me shiver uncontrollably. Almost like a tic.

I had a feeling it was a sensory thing but I can't pinpoint what exactly triggers it off.

I've a feeling it might be a reaction to certain sounds. But then I have experienced it when I've been walking on the beach as well.

Anyway, it does affect me in a negative way, it is quite pleasurable.

I've experienced AMSR since I was a kid -- and I do seek it out on occasion. The relaxing, tingling sensation in the scalp (sometimes referred to as a "braingasm") I find extremely pleasurable.

One of the main triggers for me seem to be someone explaining something in detail to me. I actually seek out instructional videos on YouTube just to experience it; however, they don't always trigger an episode. I don't get them as often as when I was younger.

It probably happens about 3 to 4 times a week.

I would say it's been happening for about the last 20 years now, that I can remember anyway.

I get it on my legs and on my head.

It's actually happening now as I type this.

It is really nice.

It is nice. Maybe I'll spend some time on YouTube this afternoon. Cooking videos can work quite nicely!

I get this on my scalp sometimes, but it is often paired with involuntary head movement, so I'm thinking that it's a partial seizure.
