I've noticed that this might be one of my most commonly used stims where if I'm trying to concentrate on something or just trying to filter out background noise, I will stare at one location and allow my vision to "blur" or unfocus allowing my thoughts to be more clear. It almost feels like a cross-eyed feeling.

Does anyone else experience this on a daily basis?

I do this too, sometimes it's really useful and some times it's not, for example at work. :)

I know this isn't what you were talking about, but I do it when I need to make eye contact with someone who scares me or who I'm mad at. It looks to them like I'm looking in their eyes, but actually they are just a blur.

Yes, I do this. It's a self-calming thing for me. It is a stim IMO. I usually find I focus on something that is high contrast; light reflecting off metal. I also do it with lights, holding the light in peripheral vision, not usually looking right at it. Things with closely spaced bars. Frames on walls. Blinds. Windows in general. Ceiling fans when on or off. The place where the wall meets the ceiling. Door frames. And so on.

Defies categorization. A mixed bag.

I do this too, and to my surprise it looks as though I do it more than other people.

When I am walking to class I am constantly "zoned" and before class when people are filing in I am sitting "zoned". It is definitely calming, as opposed to not knowing what to do when people are coming into a class room, do I look at them, do I not, for how long, who knows?
