My Car, Garden of the Gods, and Pikes Peak.

One of my favorite pictures- This is Tunnel 4 on The old Cripple Creek and Colorado Springs "short line". Perfectly straight, 300 feet long, and about 300 feet underground as well.

What's the Garden of the Gods?
And why is there a tunnel in the middle of the road?

It's more practical than a tunnel at the side of the road.

Garden of the Gods is a "hogback" where giant red sandstone plates are forced vertically, the largest ~150 feet high.

That tunnel is on an old railroad bed, since converted to a road.
