hey, so recently i lost a huge line of friends, which was hard on me because they shared the same interest as me, when i lost them i joined a camp for other teens with autism on the higher functioning level of the spectrum, most are more severe than me but i still get along with all of them, and i am even growing friendships with them, just this weekend i was invited to a sleep over by one of my other friends who has PDD-NOS and his friends were there too, and guess what? even though they were not at camp, both had AS, and shared one of my interests: video games.

i can definitely say, sometimes my space was invaded and its hard to listen to someone else's special interest but i finally, for once, not left out because i was too loud, too inappropriate or spoke about my special interest too much.

i feel really in place with my other Spectrum friends, and hope to get invited a lot more.

does anyone here has spectrum friends?

I'm very glad for you! :)

I have a friend with Asperger's syndrome, he's a great friend. He's the only person, except my family members, that I like to spend time with.

Haha I love watching aspies struggling to keep up with another persons interest.

Socializing with aspies, is so awesome its almost a religious experience or something like that..

But be warned you need to take the lead with fellow aspies. They often are just as likely as you to sit around waiting for invitations. If you dont feel up to making the invite neither will they.

Yeah, I would say 90-95% of my friends have some sort of ASD and I have many friends. However, I do have a few NT friends and they're also really cool people. :D

I am a very tolerant person (i.e. I am accepting toward a wide variety of people), but I find people, especially NTs, often take things I say personally when they're not intended to be so. I talk facts or make speculations but I've never held anything against anyone. If I do have a problem with someone, I always tell them directly and try to settle for some sort of a compromise. Sometimes people don't realize that. :( Also, I expect others to do the same to me, so I do appreciate it when people are very blunt - and many people on the spectrum are.

I wish I had more autistic friends! I do better with friends like that, and just staying home 24/7 all week isn't exactly my idea of great fun. :-P
Anyone reading this want to be friends? Your friendship would be welcome! :-D
