I have come to realize I have a LOT of anxiety revolving around if I am properly showing everyone that I "know my place". I was trying to figure out where this anxiety stems from. I couldn't think of any specific examples.

But, I thought maybe it was related to my AS diagnosis. Perhaps understanding social order is something I'm generally extremely naive about and when I cross some boundary I don't understand, I tend to feel some kind of deep shame.

Does anyone else have this anxiety about "knowing your place"?

"Knowing your place," to me, is somewhat of a medieval concept. You were either a king, a nobleman, a yeoman, an artisan, or a serf. You weren't able to rise up in the hierarchal structure; you certainly could downgrade yourself.

I don't "know my place." I'm not above or below anybody.

I know that I'm a person who seeks to make a living, be good to his friends, and not hurt anybody. T

That's my "place," really.
