when you are in the house with only 1 person, are you meant to talk to them all the time or can you just do your own thing?

It depends on who the person is.

You should never have to talk to someone all the time. If you have something you need or want to say to the person then you talk to them. But if you don't have anything to say you don't have to say anything. You can do your own thing. If the person wants or needs to talk to you he or she will just talk to you.

No problem. It's good that you can ask these questions here. :D
