Autism the musical question.
for those whom have seen the documentary Autism the musical could anybody share what Wyatt's condition may be I know they said that Henry (the kid whom was into reptiles) has Aspergers. I'm not too sure about Wyatt.

They never said. I thought he seemed the most high-functioning of them all (more so than Henry even) but then the psychologist they saw on camera said he wouldn't be considered high-functioning...so I really don't know. The scene with him on the swing seems very wise to me, he definitely understands what's going on. Maybe he has a co-morbid condition in addition to autism that adds to his struggles at school.

Wyatt seamed very with it during the movie it kinda got to me when he was talking to his mom about what was going on in school and about he gets bullied because he's in a special ed class when I first saw that I thought we was describing my school years. Then the interview where he's on the swing the self realization about going into his own world and trying to figure out why people do that as well. I dunno what tests they used on the kid to determine that he's not high functioning. I've been told that those whom are on the spectrum may show low scores in one area but makes up for it in another area and that testing using a once size fits all tests doesn't work for those whom are on the spectrum.

at the very minimum he will have had an IQ test ,they will have looked at his developmental history of meeting those irritatingly named 'mile stones' and they will have done a school assessment of his school work, they might have done a functioning assessment but am not sure if they do those on kids,perhaps welcome to holland can give the word on this one.
it is very difficult to diagnose correct level of intelectual disability if any at all in autism in childhood, was personaly rediagnosed as having mild ID after a lifetime of being labeled severely affected,went through four months of assessment at an intelectual disability hospital [was detained there under a 'section' for extreme challenging behavior],didnt find out about the rediagnosis until not long ago.
if are liking autism;the musical, the UK did a similar one which is worth a watch if can still find it;

just from viewing the linked video, Wyatt sure seems to me to have asperger's. at least i can totally relate. he calls it "his own world", i call it "being inside". it can be a great place, but sometimes it's living hell. (or in some exasperatingly indecipherable manner, both at the same time.) and the irony of having someone droning on about stuff that you don't care about being like, "pleeeeze just drive a railroad spike into my head already.....", yet needing a patient, responsive ear for your own data dumps.
