Didn't know where to post this, but here it goes.

I like to change the oil in my own car to make sure it's done right, but I drive a company van and it has to be maintained. We just got an account with Jiffy lube to maintain all the work vans. Well, I took my van over there and had the oil changed. The deflated my tires from 35 psi to 32 psi, and explained to me that it was factory spec. I tried to tell them that the tires are at the higher inflation becasue I frequently carry lots of heavy cargo, but they would not pump them back up! They then "cleaned" the windows, smearing all this dirty water all over the glass, which refracted the light and I couldn't see out when the sun shined on the windshield. The worst of it though was the fact that they spilled oil all over the headers in the engine, so the spilled oil started burning when I drove the van. I took it back up there and made them clean the engine because I could hardly breathe because of the fumes. They fussed, but eventually did it. I then drove the van back to the office...filled the tires back up to the proper inflation, and cleaned the windows myself!

Only problem now is I'm stuck with these idiots for an entire year after buying a service agreement!

I hate taking my truck in to get serviced as well. A few months ago I took it in for an alignment, and the guy said they would have to repack the wheel bearings which was another $90. Funny thing. Two years ago I took the same truck to the same place for the same alignment and the guy told me the exact same thing. And yet it's never happened anywhere else. Well, I refuse to pay $90 dollars for five minutes of work (and not to mention freaking 25 bucks for grease seals which I found at autozone for like 3 bucks and even then was a rip off), so I did it myself and brought it back, just out of spite. This time I just refused and I'm never going back to that place again.

That cartoon would work better without the caption.

How do you spell I N C O M P E T E N C E?
My sympathies are with you both. A couple years ago I brought my truck there for an inspection. They said the vehical has a clean bill of health. A week later my rear breaks are gone and the rotor is metal on metal destroying them. It cost me $900 for new brakes and rotors vs. a $200 for a normal break job.
I thought that there had to be a law in approving a vehicle in a safety inspection when in reality there was no brakes. They told me that Jiffy Lube uses a 'compression test' that doesn't require a visual inspect. My response was why do that kind of test when it doens't work? At the time it was paper thin on the brakes and according to them ok.
I really don't think they care since in there minds its an upper management thing. Jiffy Lube is a business that should have a sign that says "Enter at your own Risk".

I understand completely. A competent, honest mechanic is a rare find. At work, the rear axels seals on our International Trcks are constatly blowing out. When we took one of our trucks in to the shop our company usually uses, I watched their mechanic try to pry the end cap off, and then use a sledgehammer to loosen it up. If it was my truck I would have jacked the rear axel up, removed the wheel, then pried the cap off. Our trucks are constantly in and out of their shop, getting 'repaired' in the shoddy careless manner that I witnessed. Our shop still pays them, irregardless of the damage the garage inflicts upon the vehicles that they are allegedly fixing.

You guys think YOU have it bad? *****HA*****

One time, I TOLD!! !! !! I TOLD the company that the problem sounded like a bad CV joint! They took FOREVER to "fix" it, and said it was something else. The problem STILL existed. I took it to another company. It WAS a bad CV joint. They fixed it. Had it not been fixed, I could have been KILLED!! !! !! !

ANOTHER time I had new brake shoes put on. One caliper was not fully screwed in. It fell apart ON THE FREEWAY! Had I stopped short, or there was more traffic, I would have been in a MAJOR car accident involving THREE lanes of traffic!! ! The car spun about 10 degrees.

it seems that most jiffy lubes use high schoolers or inexperianced people that do nothing but sit around and change brake pads and change oil, i never personally had any prolems with jiffy lube(being i dont drive) but if it was an oil change id rather do it myself,

that is right about females and mechanics, it seems teh mechanic can just say ohh your thingamabobber went out and the women would believe him into thinking theres a part on the car called a thingamabobber??

just be aware ladies, its not just car repairs that this happens with, its also home repairs and also for commercial building owners, door repair

also if you own a school or are maintenace person for, same thing, just be careful of the rip offs!!

my advice is to find a place that has an ASE certified mechianic on duty and have him do the repair (since he has training in more then just sloppy oil changes) dont trust the high schoolers
