I only got a provisional diagnosis when I was five. I just discovered this today.

If you really don't want people to consider you to be autistic, I am wondering whether there is any other label you can point them toward to explain difficulties you have had. People like sense and if there is something else that would provide a reasonable explanation that should help you get away from the autism label.

What matters is that you're you.

It doesn't matter if you're autistic, or not autistic.

It basically means that they weren't entirely sure about my diagnosis.

Do you still have any problems that make you or the people around you feel you need any diagnosis at all? If not, you might be able to get away from this diagnosis. Or if another diagnosis fits better.

I would be truly glad, DevilKisses, should you enroll in some sort of higher education.

That's good! There is a lot of anxiety caused by the need for diagnosis - mine came out of the blue a couple of years ago, as I was advised to go for an assessment by a therapist - I had never even heard of Aspergers before that. I needed to find out why I had such odd difficulties with everyday life, and I could have found that out coming on Wrong Planet.
