Aches and pains- related to autism?
I've just been officially diagnosed -yay- and am still trying to sort through what things could be related to autism, and what's got other sources.
I have had consistently for as long as I remember, various pains that come and go all over my body. They are fairly painful (I have quite a high pain threshold- burning myself badly and getting a tattoo didn't hurt, so these pains are quite significant) and range from consistent and sometimes debilitating, like the aching in my back and right knee that I get from standing more than an hour or so, to smaller stuff like sharp pains I'll sometimes get in my hips and calves, or the heavy kind of aching in my thumbs, but these occur fortnightly, if that, so I've never really been to a doctor or anything about them.
So my question is, does anyone else have something like this? Is it an autism thing or something else?
Thanks!

I don't know if it's autism related but I do seem to get a lot more aches and pains than the average person. Right now I'm waiting for pain killers to kick in for sciatica pain in my neck, shoulders and arm. I can get what feels like period pain at any time. My back aches a lot and often I find myself feeling nauseous for no apparent reason. It's years since I felt fit and healthy. My pain threshold is lower than yours though. I have 2 tattoos and they hurt like hell. I will never go through that again!
I've had muscle twitches all over my body including sharp pains that almost make me to the point of crying. Sometimes i have 'hotspots' where i twitch for several days or weeks on 1 spot constantly. This is mostly on my calves but i've had them on my back, ribs, jaws.. even my tongue!
The pains come and go on random locations just like the twitches. They are almost like phantom pains
I've had an MRI to 'check' for MS and they found nothing. Thus, the doctor's said the cause of it was all in my head..

I know that - every bit, and I have asked professionals, what it is. They don´t know. I´ve been called hysterical and oversensitive. My mom had this too and she definitely had the makings of an aspie.

Are you certain theyre not related to specific triggers such as stress?

I've had chronic pain for the last 25 years.
I think sensory issues can express themselves in different ways, and this is one way.
Stress and anxiety aggravate the condition.
Also, local anesthetics do not work on me.
There are different types of pains. I'm not sensitive to them all, just certain types.

Well it is rarely ever what I would call debilitating, but it can be very bothersome....but yeah I get sort of unexplained aches and pains as well as a lot of muscle stiffness/cramping even if I haven't particularly exerted myself. My knees also like to give out sometimes when I am walking or standing which is annoying...I also seem to twist my ankles very easily, though not so much since I stared mostly wearing high top shoes to provide more support there.
Not sure if its part of the autism per say, I know I had some blood work done throughout my life due to concerns that I could have had a form of muscular dystophy....but they found I don't have that, but there is some kind of genetic mutation so that could potentially be part of it....as well, but maybe its that there that contributed to me being born with autism in the first place.
I remember as a child i sometimes in my mind compared myself to an old person because of all the aches and pains.....I mean most kids weren't really complaining of stiff muscles, cramps and this and that seemed more something older people get, so I had to wonder why I had physical complaints others my age didn't seem to have.
