Back to school, which means aggressive behaviour
ok, so i got re-registered for school, because Education is vital for the career i want, so, i decided to go back. however i tend to get aggressive when people pick on me or tease me. i really wish i wasn't aggressive, but when i try and make them stop they don't listen to my words! Also i am slow in class, mostly Math and English, the lessons are too fast and i loose interest. It really isn't my fault, but its not the schools fault either, i end up doodling or completely spacing out during the lesson. I already asked for a Educational Assistant (EA), but its a long, and difficult process that should've been made in elementary school but i was only diagnosed in early 2012. not only that, my old friends are at the school i'm going to, which makes me sad. i really hope all this works out. i want it to! so bad. what should i do to make the school process less miserable.

I used to despise "back to school" season which, with my avoidance of all things public-school related, ended up lasting from Independence Day to Labor Day. I learned to look forward to 3:15 p.m. daily in elementary school, 2:45 p.m. daily in junior-high school and 1:40 p.m. daily in high school. Weekends were small vacations. It is a wonder how I learned anything in public schools between its hostility toward me and my constant obsession about leaving it.

Hi Zombie,
Yep....you do have to graduate high school to have a chance of being independent.
You should make use of tutors at the school, until you get an educational assistant.
Are you in "regular" classes now?
I'm sorry you have to put up with the crap the other kids give you.

yes im in regular classes, in my city if you can talk you can go in a regular class, nonverbal autistics are the only ones who get a different class, or even any nonverbal disability. i used to sit next to a boy with High Functioning autism, hes more sever than someone with AS but hes verbal, which means hes in regular classes but with his own personal EA.

I'm sorry the other kids pick on you, ZombieBride...if it's any comfort to you, I used to get picked on, too. I agree with kraftykortie to make use of tutors and guidance counselors. Is it at all possible, at this point, to request some minor accommodations for this year, such as sitting near the front/back/wherever you learn/focus best, getting to wear ear defenders/take sensory breaks, things like that? Idk what the laws are like in Canada, but in the US, schools are required to provide accommodations if there is documentation that warrants them (such as documentation from 2012, when you say you were dx'd). Hope this helps some. I'll be thinking of you.

Honestly, back to school is the easiest time, but I feel as though the kids in my cluster and class are incompetent monkeys or frightening gorillas who punch everyone but the monkeys.
Most of my friends are the cats who lurk in the shadows and play video games in the hallway.
