I have cleaned now. I have vacuumed my bedroom which needed it bad--the thing was full of dust at the end! I feel something propelling me forward, and I find this thing very painful. Nevertheless, it is important that I work to keep my house clean.

I want to be able to make a deal with myself, where I'll work for 15 minutes a day and see how that goes.

This tendency towards obsessive cleaning is I think the reason why I don't clean.

I need to learn to balance it.

I did enough for today. I need to set aside 15 minutes everyday for this cleaning: No cleaning deluges followed by cleaning droughts!

Next up is the kitchen.

Well, I couldn't sleep, so I did the kitchen and the bathroom. The job's not perfect, but it's a start.

Biggest obstacle is my living room, which is absolutely cluttered with stuff.

Been there and done that. My guess is we get overwhelmed by the minor details instead of taking a room in as a whole. Working down a cleaning checklist helps me sometimes.

God, I need to clean my basement really badly, but the sheer number of things I'd have to do to get my basement clean, and all of the icky things I'd have to deal with just overwhelms me.

i keep my 'room" the cleanest i can, but it's small and i have a lot of junk in there. from chinese maps to hair clippings to student body campaign posters to modeling clay.

there's some pencil shavings on the upright piano. (that i use as a table)

the piano is old it's paint is peeling, out of tune and i don't play it anymore. but i'd feel bad if i put it away, and a desk i'd use as a replacement would have to be pretty narrow.
