I was thinking about this because I am pretty sick right now. My husband got a minor cold last week and then I got it from him. But as usual, if he gets something and then I get it, I always have it much worse for much longer. I wonder if it is because I am also constantly dealing with sensory overload and cognitive over processing and if that must be adding to the drain and fatigue which makes me get sicker than he does and makes me take much longer to recover. Does anyone else notice this about themselves?

i hardly ever get sick. i have a very strong immune system, to the point of having mild auto-immune issues like periodontal.

I get some pretty serious hallucinations when I get high fever, not very fun at all.

I guess slow recovery and fatigue could be stress related. We are almost all pretty much on a high stress level permanently and getting ill only makes it exponentially worse.

I can't remember the last time I was sick. XD However, when I was little, I used to get EVERYTHING. Ear infections, colds, the flu, strep throat, sinus infections... it was so bad that my mom ended up having my tonsils and adenoids taken out when I was around four or five. I do remember one time when I had the WORST ear infection. We're talking agonizing pain to the point where I just wanted to rip my eardrum out of my ear. Nothing would stop the pain. No pain relieving meds would even touch it.

I do know that when I was younger, if I was sick... my parents couldn't even touch me because I'd just start screaming at them. It was hard for them to figure out what was wrong with me because sometimes I had a hard time telling them what was bothering me.'

Now, I hardly ever get sick. I do have the occasional stuffy nose, but that's due to my allergies. It's nothing that makes sick. I haven't been sick for a really long time. I think since I had my tonsils and adenoids taken out, my immune system has gotten much stronger as of late. I've had my friends cough on me as a joke, and not once have I gotten sick from that. I've even been around my dad who gets sick on occasion as well... and I've never once gotten sick because of him.

No. A few months ago my step dad got sick and I only got a few sniffles and headaches.

Whenever I get sick it usually takes me longer to get better than neurotypicals I find.

I don't get sick often. Usually maybe once a year, every now and then twice a year. But when I do it can be brutal.

Crohn's disease. Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Anaemia. Yeah, I'd say so.

Not really. In fact I'm often told that I don't give myself enough rest when I have a cold. Also having a cold does not affect my appetite, so I eat well even when I have quite a bad cold, and I think it's the food that helps me get through colds quite quickly.

I suffer with sinus issues so usually there's twice as much mucus everywhere when I have a cold, and it trickles down my throat and into my stomach, causing those agonising acidic pains in my stomach. Then an ear infection usually follows when the cold clears up.
