I'm not sure if it's an autism thing or not but... I notice I can't stand anything with horror-related themes or gore. I was just wondering if there was anyone out there who feels the same way I do about this stuff. Do you have a hard time watching anything horror-related or gory?

Yes. People's insides have no business being on the outside. Can't understand the mindset of people who actually enjoy watching that kind of thing. Don't mind psychological thrillers though.

I dislike movies (and music) in general, but if anything, horror movies are the only kinds I could watch. I hate the gory/bloody sub-category of horror movies though.

I don't think the preference of movie genres has anything to do with autism. Just my opinion.

I don't like horror or gory movies either. I don't mind reality, I just watched an autopsy on youtube and it was very interesting. But anything super violent of just gory for the sake of gory or horror for the sake of horror, I can't deal with. I think the difference for me is intent. Like if I am watching a movie and it has a lovely romantic scene between a husband and wife, I find that beautiful and I can watch that. Porn on the other hand, is out of place to me and scares me and bothers me tremendously, I can't deal with it. That is the same difference between gory and horror films and watching an autopsy for educational purposes.

Maybe not... but I always feel as though it does for me though. I don't know why though. I can't really put it into explanation. D: I think it's more or less because of the obsession with certain things or something. Like, I become obsessed with the scenes playing in my head over and over when I'm trying to sleep, and that always frightens me every time. Does that make sense?

personaly have no problem watching gore as theyre not real and have got no attachment to people, love watching gory stuff as get sensory input from flowing liquids such as blood, when the film goes quiet love watching peoples reactions to the other parts of the films.

am not so much a fan of horror as find the sensory input boring mainly unless were to count the friday the 13th/jason x films.

It does make sense. I can scare myself completely by playing scenes over and over in my head and sometimes it seems uncontrollable. That is why certain things are better left unseen. And I am very visual so I have to be careful what I allow myself to see and even hear because if people describe horrible things to me I can see them clearly in my head and I might never get over that. Those things can cause me great mental suffering and stress.

I am curious, would you have a different reaction if the horror were towards an animal? I know that you bond with animals. Are you able to see a horror film involving an animal as not real and are you able to detach yourself from that emotionally or is that different for you?

I don't see the point of watching horror films.

Films like ALIEN for example may have original and creative things (aka the aliens) but ultimately the entire plot revolves around 'bottleneck' moments where the movie either scares you or does something horrific that some mentally deranged people find exciting.

I love horror movies.

They're one of my main special interests.

I'm not "mentally deranged." Most other horror fans aren't either.

I dislike horror movies for the reason if I want to see guts and gore I just think and remember the fatal trauma calls I've been to in my 15 years working EMS. That's a lifetime of horror movies that don't all end in the mind ever. Although I can remember the bad the good outweighs all the death I have seen, that's why I will do this until I have to give it up.

Although the war movie with factual portrayal of gore of war dosen't bother me one bit I enjoy the realism of a hysterically based movie or show.

I absolutely hate gore and graphic violence, and watching people get tortured in movies, it makes me cringe. I can sit through a movie like that, but I won't really enjoy it, and I don't understand why anyone would. Often the movies like that have a terrible plot, either because it is generic and stupid, or because it is totally unrealistic (or both). I do like certain ones, but none of the ones I have liked were very gory. Usually the ones I like are more of the eerie, creepy ones, where the scary feeling comes more from the uncertainty of it and not from blatant violence and freaky looking monsters and jump-scares.

I don't know if those movies would actually fall under the horror category though, I guess they are more like thrillers and dark mystery stories. I don't like excessive blood or gore at all.

I hate most horror movies, and ghost movies. Ghosts are just stupid, and most horror movies are dumb. There are a few exceptions, though. I liked Devil's Rejects, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer, Seven. It can be done well, but seldom is.

Hate it, gives me nightmares, makes me scared and feeling awful. I don't enjoy it. I think my issues with synesthesia help make it physically unpleasant. I am far too sensitive to enjoy something meant to freak you out.
