I donated some Japanese books to the U of M's Japanese department today. I spent some time talking with the teacher and an assistant, spending a good amount of time speaking in Japanese. The Japanese I was able to muster seemed to come naturally, perhaps thanks to the large amount of listening practice I've had. I was able to understand some or most of their Japanese, but not all.

Unfortunately, I think I was overstimulated by the encounter. After that, I rear-ended somebody on the way home, my fourth clearly at-fault accident in two years, my fifth in total in two years, and my second to have a police report. I had an at-fault accident in December 2012, when I looked both ways at the stop sign and could not see the car coming so I hit them. I had to pay $500 deductible to fix the front of the car. I had an accident that probably was not my fault in May 2013, when I parked strange and tried to adjust but someone else backed into the parking space causing the accident. We didn't take a police report because it was private property it occurred on, but I think it was not my fault because I was in the space first. Nevertheless, I have long had trouble maneuvering my vehicle in tight spaces, often parking strange. In September 2013, I clipped an SUV. There, we agreed not to take a police report and that I would just pay for the damage to the left-rear light. In December 2013, while driving I was angry about something and didn't turn left onto the freeway properly, hitting the sidewall of both my wheel and tire really bad, causing about $400 in damage to my own car. And now I've had this accident. The front of my car is now visibly damaged after having been repaired in December 2012, but I don't think it is worth it at this point for me to fix it.

I am tired of all these wrecks, and I wonder if my ability to drive safely has started to decline.
