I have always thought the new year/January is the most depressing time, because for me it is akin to being at the top of a mountain then suddenly being dumped right back down at the bottom and having to roll a giant boulder grindingly slowly, all the way up the mountain again. anybody else here feel something like that?
p.s. - no offense meant to people born in January :)

The only things that depress me about January is the cold weather and the fact that tax season starts again.

it's like there is more tension in January [for me] than any other month of the year.

I get depressed at new year when I look back over the past year and see that I really haven't achieved anything.

I'm completely indifferent.
Today is the same as yesterday, as last week, as last month, as last year...
Time goes in circles, you'll find.
It doesn't cut off because some human decided to invent a calendar so as to divide it into neat little tidbits.

As a person born in January, I take offense to this question! It was asked on another forum last January. I also like the cold weather; it's so much better than the heat. I also have a break from school. January might actually be my favorite month.

I hate new year's eve because it always reminds me of how much of an abnormal 25-year-old I am. I see everybody on Facebook posting pictures of how fantastic their new years eve was with all their friends, posing in front of the camera with a glass of alcohol in their hand, looking as happy as can be. It makes me want to hang myself. The feeling passes after a few days, don't worry I won't hang myself.

I don't usually make blanket statements about NTs but really I have yet to meet a person who chooses not to go out and party for new years eve, and I don't mean people who are held back by having work the next morning, not being able to afford to go out, have a religion that goes against new years eve celebrating, have children with no babysitter, have norovirus or some other virus or are too ill to go out the door, or are too old and tired to go out. I just mean people who CHOOSE not to out, who is NT, and is young. I have yet to meet one.

It's so horrible being me because I hate bars, partying and drinking alcohol and staying out all night, but it's society that makes me feel so guilty about it.

But, like my wise grandmother always says, "life will go on whether you give into peer pressure or not." She has Altzheimer's but that piece of advice is one of the best I've ever heard.

I guess I just don't grok what all those people are celebrating- just getting through another @#$% year, or actually believing that the new year will bring something better to them?

It reminds me of "things".
I put "meh" as an option, it's worse than bad.

the first half of each new year troubles me with-
*having to pay property tax
*having to pay car tabs and remember to put them on
*having to pay tax accountant for income tax preparation
*tax time in general
*having to pay for the insurance on my tin can
*having to get up on the roof and clearing out the gutters
*having to re-raccoon-proof the tin can

I hate december and january because everyone else is out having fun and I cant because of my social anxiety/paranoia (I actually want to go out and party/drink but it is just to difficult for me). I hate seeing photos of everyone else having fun on facebook and having to just stay at home on the computer all day because of my anxiety (its hard to ask people to do things with you if you feel like theyll just say something like "f**k off, why would I want to hang out with someone like you). I also hate my birthday (17th of january) because no one really notices it (the normal people get around 50 happy birthday posts on facebook and they can actually be with there friends on there birthday). my birthday just reminds me that no one gives a f**k about me and that I might as well just kill myself because It wont get better. I just want to be able to go out with friends and enjoy myself... But that wont happen.. so I suppose I just sit in my room watching everyone else have fun while I just sit there and do nothing... fml

January is cold and dull and always seems to drag on. February is more Hopeful, and March is when winter comes to an end. But the most depressing month for me is November. If months had colours, January would be white, while November would be grey.
