My 20 year old son is closing on his new house in pueblo tommorrow. He plans to rent it out for a couple of years, but then, it will be the first [of hopefully many] of the homes in the Autistic intentional community. I have no idea if I will be arround to be part of the community [my health stuff] but, it is such a relief to see some progress.

Could you explain a little more about this? I do not know what this is, the "autistic intentional community" but it sounds interesting to me. What exactly is this thing about?

And I hope you will be around for a long time in that community! :)

LJ closed on Monday! Home Depot and Habitat for Humanity both feel like christmas to me! I am a little old lady with super serious health problems who grew up in an era where 'guys did guy things" and "girls did girl things." I had never used any power saws, sanded a floor, hooked up a toilet or tiled a backsplash. I am now doing it all [plus more] and it is so fun!
Skibum. I HAVE to "stick around" so that I can meet you at AutHaven next March. [ I am hoping that you will facillitate a discussion on Autism and the importance of the spirit of Adventure]

Habitat for Humanity has a placed called "Restore" that is full of used donated items that can be picked up for just a fraction of new. We just picked up about a thousand dollars worth of materials for a little over a hundred'

Awesome! The one in our city never has anything we actually need. You seem to have a better one than we do.
