I asked someone online once about why my aspergers is causing me a lot of trouble in my life and how other family members on the spectrum get by undiagnosed and someone replied to me "well maybe your aspergers is more obvious than you think"

What would be the difference between my 'form' of AS and the type of AS members of my family have that dont come to the attention of others?

There might not be a difference. Maybe you seeked help and they didn't. If you were diagnosed as a kid maybe your parents are more persistent and aware of autism.

There is a difference in severity. You might have mild AS, moderate AS etc.
Also, it is possible for people not having AS developing some AS traits. Even 100% NT people usually have a few. People with AS just have more of the traits and they are severe enough to actually cause an impairment.

You are probably at the moderate range of AS. Your undiagnosed family members are either mild AS or just NTs with a few traits.

Perhaps others have developed different coping skills. Also, people can change with experience. I was just diagnosed with Asperger's this spring but I'm a lot less "weird" at 30 than I was at 15 or 20.
