Just had massive sensory overload with cars playing loud bass music outside and loud truck and ambulance sirens all while trying to help Hubby make a spur of the moment reservation which caught me off guard so that we could hook up with friends that just emailed me that they were coming to town. It was so overwhelming I banged my head on the wall next to the stairs forgetting that it was the cinderblock fire wall between the two houses. Physically ok, no damage. Just emotionally overwhelmed.

I have to go to the barn for a class but it will do me good to be with the horses. I feel really bad about the head bang though, emotionally bad, not physically bad. I wish I had not lost it like that but it's just part of Autism. Just wanted to tell you guys.

Was it accident that you banged your head against the wall, or did you do it voluntarily or involuntarily?
I can't tell from the description.
Was it just once that you banged your head against the wall?
There is nothing to feel bad about here, I don't think.

If you feel nauseated, dizzy, or suddenly sleepy, make sure you seek medical attention.

You may not be feeling any physical pain, but I'd recommend seeing a doctor, just in case.

How badly did you bang your head?

I would say your horse-friends will help. I had a cat friend as a teenager who helped me out (even though she hated to be brushed!)

Thank you so much everyone. I really appreciated your responses. It was definitely a meltdown bang not an accident. I was totally overloaded with the noises and the stress and I had to release it. Usually I headbang with the palm of my hand but I was in the stairwell and the wall was right there so it was so convenient. It definitely was not strong enough for a concussion and after the first hit it hurt because I had forgotten it's a cinderblock wall not drywall. But physically I should be fine. I don't have headbangs like this often but I could not take any more. It was involuntary in the sense that when you need to meltdown you have to. I could not stop it even if I had wanted to. I probably could have used my hand though. I had already had a screaming meltdown from the noise a little earlier. Hopefully I will be fine.

Being the fresh air and working with the horses and smelling them and bonding with them and smelling the fresh hay was wonderful. I feel a lot better now that I have been at the barn for four hours. I think I might just need to move a hammock into one of the pastures and just move on in.

But thank you so much for responding. I just needed some love from you guys. But I will be vigilant for any signs of concussion just to be on the safe side. Thank you.

Have your hubby monitor you closely for a week or two because concussion symptoms do always present at first and a person may not realize they have it. .

Just to be clear our friend here is talking about concussion symptoms, not overload symptoms, I believe. Edit: Oops! I guess skibum was well aware of that. Well, here's to hoping it's not often you feel this distressed again.

Sorry Skibum :( I hate it when that happens. My last meltdown I wound up banging my head on the floor of all things. Fortunately it was carpeted. Feel better soon

Thank you so much guys. I am going to spend today resting and working on some notes. I can use my laptop in bed so I can take naps. Hopefully it will be a quiet day for traffic.

LunaLupa, that's really funny!

Thank you Rebbieh. I still have a little headache but resting is good and fortunately it has been relatively quiet today. I also have soft music playing while I work on my notes.

I have missed you these past few days. How are you?

That's good. Not the headache but the fact that it's been quiet etc.

Stressed out of my mind. Thank you for asking.
