Yes, I read just the other day about the controlled studies of something extracted from broccoli which seemed to reduce anxiety related symptoms in teenage and young adult moderate to severe autistics:
a compound called sulforaphane, derived from broccoli, to a small group of severely to moderately autistic teenage boys and young men, there was a dramatic improvement in the subjects? symptoms. They were calmer, more social and in some cases, more verbal.

Would actually eating broccoli itself help calm anxiety issues with a considerably older and fairly mild aspie? That I don't know - but given that I like broccoli anyway - I think I will give it a try and have a portion of broccoli every day for a week and see if I notice any difference. Between broccoli and Zoloft - who knows? Maybe, it will do some good. At least broccoli is good for you and I have never heard of any negative side effects.
