I'd like to know if anyone else has major sleep issues and what you do to try and make it better. I've always had bouts of terrible insomnia from childhood, according to my mom, I was a "sleep for an hour, scream for an hour" kind of newborn as well. It seems to be getting worse or affecting me worse as I get older. I've had this current bout for 4 months already and my head hurts badly, I can't think or function and my heart is beating really fast. It really bothers me but my sleep meds only made me feel even more more awake AND exhausted at the same time.

I've never been able to sleep well. My brain doesn't shut down properly and drugs don't help me feel rested. I have a bit of insomnia that I've been trying to fight off lately, but to no avail.
One thing I think is my problem are my dreams. Or my dreams are a symptom, I don't know. It feels like they keep me too busy. I always remember my dreams and sometimes it seems like they get logged in the wrong memory slot so I can't tell if it really happened or if it was a dream (unless it's obviously a dream, like if I get shot or stabbed, or if I'm a guy instead of a girl). Even when I was having surgery I was dreaming. It wasn't like what people said, that I'd basically "blink" and wake up. I dreamt instead.

I've tried meditation, trazodone, yoga, zzzquil, Norco, baclofen, unisom, ambien, and a few others I can't remember right now, and nothing has worked. Medications just don't work right with me...
Oh, well, there was one thing, that stuff they used on me when I had a camera down my throat. That gave me the best rest I've ever had...

When I've had problems sleeping, and / or dreamed alot, it's usually because of something I ate----or, the time at which I ate it. I read alot about it and found-out that I shouldn't eat or drink after, say, 6pm; watch the time, expecially, at which I drink caffeine----even decaffeinated coffee I've learned through "trial-and-error", not to drink after, say, 3pm, or I'll have vivid dreams----same with "spicy".

If I think I'm not going to get to sleep at a time that I like, I begin preparations, early. Like, if I want to get to sleep no later than 11, I start no later than 9. Also, the thing about not eating after 6pm, I disregard if I'm going to eat something that will help me sleep. I'll eat cereal, or ice cream, or just a piece of bread (or a piece of bread with one piece of cheese, for a half-sandwich) and a glass of milk. The triptophan will usually knock me out at the time I want.

Yep, I've always had issues sleeping I'm normally up at night and sleeping during the day that's one of the things my mother noticed when I was a child. I had it worse when I was in my teens in fact I can recall being up for 2 days with no sleep quite a few times back then. Just for the record I've never done any drugs I didn't drink coffee or anything like that it just happened to be that way.
I was recently told that Insomnia is a co morbidity of Autism.

I have a hard time sleeping too, I take a sleeping pill, but that helps most of the time. But when it doesn't help I do some of these things, and I get to sleep sooner or later. I'm not sure if you tried these things out, but before going to bed try drinking a glass or two of warm milk and a few hours before bed don't drink anything with caffeine in it (It'll keep you up, drink stuff like kool aid,water, or milk.) Also if you don't like the taste of warm milk, then once you heat it up add a drop or two of honey to it. Hope these tips help. :)

I also have sleep issues. Most of it is due to my medication called Concerta. I take it for ADHD symptoms, and I can't stop taking it because I've tried that already. D: I've tried everything to help me sleep and nothing even touches me at all. I'm often going through sleepless nights and getting an anxiety attack in the morning due to lack of sleep. ._. Then the next night I can sleep just fine because my body is so tired. So yeah. :/

I had insomnia really bad and Trazadone works better for me than anything else I've tried.
Now I get sleep and I still don't have much energy.
