I've spent like the past few months learning possibly everything about asperger's, and I found out it might be my new obsession. Is this possible? It's starting to bother me. I don't want it to be my obsession, but it appears I don't have a choice in the matter. :?:

Yep, autism has been my special interest for the past two years, ever since I started seriously considering the possibility of my having it. I'm an expert on it now, and go back to my old college to lecture on it to psychology students. There's nothing really wrong with it as an interest, though I can understand your annoyance. Unfortunately, special interests tend to choose us; we don't choose them. That's been my experience at any rate.

Yeah, it might very well be a special interest. AS was my special interest for about 1-1.5 years when I first considered that I might have it. For me it was both very interesting and very destructive (because well, I was truly obsessed with it and it made me anxious etc) so I had to force myself to stop it (the fact that I started studying at university helped a lot, don't think I would've been able to stop it otherwise).
