Not anymore.I stopped doing it at the same time I quit drinking,it was a decission to stop using things to escape my life and try and create a life that I didnt feel such a strong need to escape(not that it's perfect but tolerable). It took longer to give up the boyfriend addiction....that one took the longest and was almost as self destructive but with more payoff.Which is why it was harder to stop.I think it also helped when I started synthroid because the low thyroid was adding to my depression and feelings of dissociation that made me feel like cutting.I am still annoied by my scars,as they are personal but I dont like having to always wear long sleeves to cover them.

I used to, but it was rarely methodical and usually came during a meltdown...the anger would take over and I would do whatever I could to try and eliminate it. I still do this, but not cutting. I have a bad habit of punching myself when the anger hits. I have bruises and even a slightly black eye as a result. I sometimes joke and say that I save other people the trouble of doing it themselves when I annoy them.

Between the ages of 12-22 I did this severely but managed to stop when I got pregnant for the first time. I do sometimes get the urge but I have not hurt myself with a sharp object since the age of 22 (I am 33 now). Though sometimes I do scratch myself to the point of bleeding, especially if I am sick, half asleep, or otherwise disoriented.

Self circumcision :?: 8O 8O 8O 8O

I prefer blunt objects like a nice smack on the knee with something metal it just feels so nice and calming I really can't explain it.

I even took pictures (before and after shots) - luckily it hut too much so I didn't do any damage.

It was after girlfirend said something....

Yeah the slapping stuff - especially cold metal.

-I used to punch but not with my knuckles - but I have seen other people do that too.

I hated kids that slapped their rulers on the table (hate the whack sound) and they thought I was strange for slapping myself. - doesnt'that hurt - why would it hurt - funny thing is when someone eles slaps ya then it does hurt.... I have seen other people slapping themselves. and BDsm also comes to mind.

Yeah. Cutting with a pocketknife. Doesn't usually bleed significantly, but it leaves scars. Stomach, not arms (arms are so noticable, especially when you're required to take gym).

When I was a teenager, I used a fingernail clipper to clip the skin on my knuckles off, I could actually see the bones. I also used to poke toothpicks in the gums between my teeth until they were covered in blood. I guess I got a rush from the pain. I don't do this stuff anymore, but will sometimes bite my lip (not so hard that I bleed) when streessed or nervous. I guess the pain calms me down and relaxes me.

I agree.
Most of my friends think it's weird, though. I haven't told them about my condition yet, and I'm not sure if I ever want to.

Banging my head occasionally. I once banged so head when I was between 2 and 5 while having serious meltdowns I had to be rushed off the the hospital to have it sutured several times.
I made a real bloody mess of myself numerous times. These days I have toned to right down to generally just comtemplating banging my head.

Other issue I cannot help is bruxism or teeth gnashing and I have done a lot of damage to my teeth and gums. I am often in a out of the dentist because of it.

No. Self injury would hurt.
