when I get going on a good binge, it is like I can't stop my mouth, just like when I get the 'jimmy leg' or do that shakey thing that keeps my nervous system in touch with my body (or me in touch with my nervous system, or how ever that works)
Just wondering if you ever thought. . .

I wish I DIDN'T eat so much(chocoholic). 8-(

BTW self STIMulating action!

Quote:
Stim: Short for 'self-stimulation', a term for behaviours whose sole purpose appears to be to stimulate ones senses. Many people with autism report that some 'self-stims' may serve a regulatory function for them (ie. calming, increasing concentration, or shutting out an overwhelming sound).

I LOVE to eat. Don't know if it would be considered stimming, though...I know some people have problems with compulsive overeating, which can be treated with therapy and a big piece of duct tape, I suppose...But I do love to eat, and A LOT, usually depending on that time of the month, if you get my drift. Good thing I work out five days a week else I'd be huge.

I also smell my food, even in public. I must smell my food. My husband can always tell when I've been eating because a telltale bit of chocolate or mustard will be on the end of my nose.

Thanks for the definitions :)

Interesting, I do my little stims to shut out the senses, go back into my inner world, disconnect from the senses. They comfort me.

And definitely eating can be comforting. It also causes one's energy to go into the stomach and mute outter sensory input.

Know what you mean about THAT time of the month! I seem to get ravenous for a few days before and end up really pigging out. Does the metabolism speed up or something ? I have become lazy with my working out. Used to do over 2 hours every day but now more like 2 hours 3-4 times a week.

It depends on what my favorite food is. Like if there's something I really like (nothing right now, but it was ham sandwiches last week), then I'll eat them until I get full, which varies. Sometimes it's right away and sometimes it takes a bit of food. But I just have a need to eat them. Funny thing is, I have such a high metabolism so I don't gain an ounce from any of the food. My goal right now is to gain enough weight to be 100 pounds. And I'm eighteen years old for crying out loud! lol

I was the exact opposite - the thin kid that only ate to survive - I never really liked food in general.

Then came Marijuanna ,textures and tastes were interesting,, soetimes I would get 'higher' just but liking a potatoe chip!

...but when you become a choofer (a long time user of marijuanna) then some foods start to becom inedible,, everthing becomes tatless and dry, chewing becomes a chore, swallowing is difficult,,, even if you get the munchies,, it will only be a food that is entirely agreeable - and yeah you start eating uncontrolably like a pig sometimes without realising it.

Now I am off the choof. -5 years now.

I have finally started to develop a taste and affinity for food, I will try new things (to an extent).

stimming on my food - yep it's starting to become a bit of a habit for me to 'eat the entire packet' 'finish the bowl' etc. - I never used to do this ,if I was full I was full, but now I just eat, usually faster than what my stomach realises that it is full.

-this could be why there is supposedly an obessity crisis in the world

I used to constantly overeat! Hunger seemed to affect me more than most other people. But after my Aspergers diagnosis I learned that Celiac's disease is often associated with the condition. I was then tested for Celiacs and discovered that I indeed had Celiacs. Once I stopped eating any gluten I immediately began loosing weight and my hunger pains became just hunger pains. It was like starting a whole new life!

Now I only overeat when I am exceptionally stressed, like on the day before a university exam.
