I think I'm the only one here who is scared of cats, even when I know the cat is nice.

I've been swatted at when I was younger and almost bitten by a cat too that I tried to pet as a child. Also, the thought of one crawling onto my lap and their nails digging into my skin freaks me out.

I'm sure of one thing, all cats are serial killers. If they where bigger, stronger and if they could they would kill you, usually in your sleep. My mom is a cat person and she had many, and each one of her cats would sneak in bed with me in the middle of the night, cuddle for a while and then out of nowhere bite me, attack me and then run away, the worst being bitten by their pointy teeth on the feet.
I also have friends who have cats, and half of them have attacked me. So screw cats.
I prefer dogs, if you die in your home your dog will always be there and lay down and let itself starve, a cat, after 1 day or two will start feeding off it's owner.

Oh, you mean like lions, tigers, leopards, pumas, jaguars, etc. etc?

Fair enough. But what about wolves? I'm pretty sure they'd tear your throat out if you pissed them off too.

Cats are indeed carnivores and predators, but I'm not so sure a dog wouldn't eat you too. And in any case, in that situation, I'd rather my dead body did some good and fed something, rather than going rancid while my dog starved. What you seem to see as a lack of loyalty, I see as independence. Don't get me wrong, I love dogs too, but cats are much lower maintenance. And they may be pointy on five of their six ends, but they're also so fluffy! :cat:

Anyway, to each their own, but that's my 2 cents in defense of felines.

Actually here in Europe they are plenty of wolves, and I mean a lot. And since the 1700's when they started keeping tabs on the amount of attacks of wolves on humans, guess what? None, zero, not one wolf has ever attacked a person, sheep's, chickens, pigs, goats yes, but people never. So basically wolves don't attack people, they are afraid of them.

Has for cats, they are useless, they spend most their days sleeping, playing Foosball and smoking joints, ah ah ah. Proof in this video

Anyway, I like cats also, wouldn't mind having one, but that doesn't mean I'll trust it.

Haha well... I guess I'm a cat then? Except for the foosball, although I do enjoy that on occasion.

I did know that wolves don't attack humans, at least not unprovoked. Still, I bet they might in the right/wrong context. If they were cornered, perhaps, or very hungry and outnumbered the person in question.

And hey, no worries. Cats probably don't really trust us much either. Dogs do, but unfortunately that trust is too often misplaced. There are a lot of neglectful, abusive dog owners in the world, and the dogs will usually stay with them, while a cat would likely be gone at the first opportunity.

Anyway, that video made my day

That's one thing I love about cats, their fluffy coats. Plus, they're so graceful. It's like amazing, though. Like they're both. They can be so sweet, but also fierce. Sometimes when I see a big cat, it reminds me of my cat, except for the size. Same vice versa.

I've never gotten to see a big cat hunt for real, just on tv, but it's incredible how they do it. No, I'm not bloodthirsty, but I like to read on predator ecology. And cats are perfectly built for what they hunt and how. Really, hunting is no joke. It's really very serious business. It takes a lot of energy, and there's no guarantee of success. Also, different hunting strategies for different prey. I've developed quite, I suppose you call it admiration and respect, for predators, expecially apex predators, from reading on predator ecology. Not only cats, but all predators, play an extremely important role in their environments. They're not random killers.

And just who says they're useless. My cat has caught tons of flies, lizards and other small pests. Cats are not only pets, they're still wild at heart. All felines are extraordinary creatures. It's why I like books written from a cat's POV, like warriors or the mrs.murphy series. I'm writing my own short stories about a couple of kitties who solve mysteries myself. Animals are the perfect detectives.

I think of a cat, in the same way an animal tamer thinks of a tiger or lion. I am comfortable around it, only because I acknowledge what it can do and accommodate that.

This is proof that cats are autistic because it uses the same concept as Temple Grandin's squeeze box! :cat:

I´ve been planning to make my cat a crawl-sneak-hide environment of the same type, - not as elaborate, but still the same idea  I´d like to use a nice branch for stairs and wire it to floor and wall.

It doesn't occur to me, to try and dress one.

I like to see that people can buy nice things for their animals, and it seems happy.
