I found a parents' magazine called " PARENTMAP " (no time to put up a link now) , which had a cover story about " Aging up with AUTISM " , about attempts to support Aspie no-longer kids in college/generally post-HS and the end of their then-support system .
Once again , it gave me a chance to feel bad and , maybe even , cry , anyway feel sad - If I had been born 20-30 years later , perhaps I would have had a sympathetic resonse + programs , and had something in my life , rather than being an agoing , super-sick , homeless in a cold . wet , are , older person with NO material possessions , really , and NEVER having , tryly , " gone to college " .

I'm very sorry to hear you've had to live like that. It sure puts my own lesser problems in perspective.

I regret not having gone to college too. I think they had a disability officer at the community college (not real college) I dropped out off after one semester. For me one of life's most oft repeated lessons is that if help is on offer I should ask for it instead of trying to fix everything myself. I had problems in high school and didn't ask for help, I had problems in community college and didn't ask for help and today my employment agent chewed me out for almost blowing it by trying to solve my problems myself instead of telling her about them.

As you said for the previous generation there was no help on offer but for young folks like me? I blow it because I try to be "independent" instead of asking for help.

On a side note I'm glad that they're finely offering help for autistic adults because not too long ago practically all help for autistic was for kids only.

Anyway, I'm sorry for hijacking your thread with my own trivial problems. I sincerely hope your life has improved.

I'm just trying to get t6hings tyogethr to be able to have this operation ~ That , tercdhnically speaking , could " save my life " ~ but have it in a civilized manner , with a decent re3covery ~ and take myself out of a cold Seattle fall (and think f winter:-) !)...
Since I , at least at this pint , can't g ot Australia , this can be our only contact...
