I reading it with my Grade 6 class in Elementary School. I'm thinking about reading it again. It's one of my favourite books.

I read it in my 8th grade Language Arts class. I liked JohnnyCake, Sodapop and Ponyboy. Reading about Ponyboy and Sodapop made me wish I had an older sibling who looked after me the way Sodapop looked after Ponyboy....I've always wanted that. I like the movie, too - I watched it about a year ago with my mom, stepdad, and my sisters, and it was great except the background music sounded like what you'd hear in a cheesy afterschool special.

It was required in 9th grade. I have the movie. It gives you the lowdown of the social aptitude in society, without any racial discrepancy that apparently never changes. That is the way I interpret it. In the movie, Emilio Estavez was the only one who could crack a good joke about life. The kids were cool. They were kids. Almost everyone else were dinks.

I read it when I was about 14. I didn't think it was too bad, but I only read it once and back then I always reread books I really liked. I even had to look at Wikipedia to see what it was about, so for me it was very forgettable. Tried Rumble Fish too, but found it very lacking. Both are books I have long since gotten rid of.
The only thing I really liked in the book was the names Ponyboy and Sodapop. Awesome names, less than awesome story.
