I received the report today, I went private in the end, the person who diagnosed is definitely well qualified so its all good.

I am quite relieved, I kept thinking I was just deluding myself, turns out my EQ is lower than I thought, which surprised me quite a bit but nothing else really surprised me much.

its been a long time coming, well I think about 3 years, I was putting it off for so long for fear of being told I was wrong. :)

Welcome to the club. :)

Getting my diagnosis this past summer was a great relief for me. Hopefully you feel the same way! And my IQ (assuming that's what you meant) was also a bit lower overall than I'd expected, with the exception of verbal skills where I ranked exceptionally high.

yes a great relief to know you weren't imagining things, I actually mean Empathy Quotient, my IQ was not checked as I had already done one.

Welcome!

It took me over a year to get diagnosed including several dissappointments with Drs who didn't take my insurance. It took three visits and a bunch of tests, but I was diagnosed 8/8/14. I consider it my new birthday because it revealed so much about me that I either didn't know or I thought was "abnormal".

Congratulations! As far as IQ tests go, I've taken them a few times (actual tests administered by psychologists) and my scores have varied although all have been around 98% . I think the highest score you get is the most accurate. If you're distracted or having a bad day, the score will be lower.

Congrats!

I was quite relieved to get my diagnosis. I tried to lower my expectations beforehand because I didn't think I'd actually get one. After my preliminary assessment, I convinced myself that the guy who carried it out didn't think I had autism. (Found out later on that wasn't true and he said he was glad I got the diagnosis.) Had to wait 4 months for the main assessment, where I was equally convinced the psychiatrist didn't think I had autism.

Turned out I was a clearcut case in his eyes >_>.

It's good to have an 'answer', even if it doesn't solve any of your problems. In the past, I put my problems down to depression, anxiety, laziness, etc., but there always seemed to be something else missing. Something I couldn't account for. I looked up various personality disorders on the internet and found out that I had elements of pretty much all of them :p But there was nothing which made complete sense. Now that I've looked into it more deeply, autism is clearly the best fit for me by miles.

Wasn't required to take an IQ or EQ test. Probs just as well, as I think I would've hit rock bottom on both... :-/

I'm glad that you have your answer(s). :D

My EQ was lower than I expected as well, but not as low as I had feared. So a bittersweet win. My IQ was right where my arrogance is, which turns the arrogance into confidence I guess (glass half full). Still a social moron, but I can build rockets. :D

Rockets are certainly cool.

Do you ever wish you were Robert Goddard? Or the person who developed the Saturn V, that provided that "boost" that enabled man to reach the moon?

Who knows, maybe you could use your arrogance/confidence to build something that could reach Warp Speed.
