My husband was diagnosed with adhd many years ago, but is prone to getting obsessed over strange things . He got really fascinated with a building what caught fire in the town and kept talking about it for weeks to his work mates, some of them got sick of it. And if it isnt burned down/neglected buildings, its bodily functions instead, like burps and farts. He finds it so amusing when I do (I have Ibs so I do typically pass wind a lot), and he even sometimes stuffs himself with food like baked beans and drinks beer, just to give himself wind (both ends). Is this kind of obsessive behaviour normal for a grown person with adhd? Can people with adhd have intense or narrow obsessions like asd people? I have autism but I don't have obsessions by the way.

People with ADHD tend to be very single minded about things. Not so much a detail oriented kind of obsession where you want to know everything you can about something. But more like you are just driven to this one thing and can't put it out of your mind and can't stop talking about it and can't let it go. It's usually more about wanting to DO something than wanting to learn something. Being relentlessly driven to do something with a very single-minded sense of purpose about it.
