I was looking at autism.org for something else and found this article about medicinal marijuana...

http://www.autism.org/marijuana.html

I think I just found a new benefit of being autistic

LOL!

But seriously, why try to cure autism? It's impossible.

Cannabis seriously helps. To a degree I can't even express.

I was nearing suicide before I started smoking cannabis. Cannabis has, over time, increased my ability to socialize.

And cannabis isn't even bad for you. No study that I'm aware of has ever proven that cannabis causes brain damage. The study done a long time ago one monkeys was a farce, and any respectable scientist will agree.

Cannabis, in a study of 60,000 Kaiser patients, was also shown to reduce the risk of lung cancer slightly. It can protect your lungs, because THC is a dilative agent, and it allows your lungs to more efficiently clean themselves.

Well... that seems interesting.

(FOr the record, I am in favor of legalization)

If we could get a study about that started up...

I'm trying to study real world people and their experiences - If you have an experience with pot, good or bad, let me know..

Personally, I use it. It wont cure autism, dont think it will, but it may allow you to cope with things better..

Marijuana is now in 4 threads on this website. You will get 2 sides but mainly, you will get peoples experiences which will dictate which side you hear.

There's a lot to hear about this, but I find those who seriously put in the time and effort are responsible

Sign me up for the clinical trial :-)

Seriously, I think starting a clinical trial about this would result in as-yet-unheard-of numbers of autistic people congregating in one place.

i am all for legalisation, and am sure it helps with AS symptoms to some degree. i think a lot depends on what strain you are using. for a long while i was pretty reliant on cannabis, and it certainly helped me in some ways, but i think you can get to the point where it becomes an obssession, as happened to me.
if i smoke these days, it just freaks me out and i need to lie on my bed for a couple of hours with nice music on... but i would definitely condone it if not taken to excess. i also doubt that it causes long term mental health problems.

I dont get this 'excess' stuff. There are times I smoke more then average but the actual high peaks at some point.

Last year, I was going to become a police officer so I had to quit pot. The "last" session I did, I helped the team of us smoke 1/4 of an ounce. I'd say after 4 hits I wasnt getting any higher. The blunt came around and I'd hit it but nothing more happened.

Now, for me, and others, there is a way where you can take one hit and focus on it. That one hit to me, now, is roughly the equilvalent of 3-4 hits back when.

As for music, I end up listening to music quietly every night regardless.. done so since I started liking music when I was 13 years old 8)

I could never get anything out of the substance. The effects of it bother me. However, I have a friend who could hook me up with some krypto, might hit him up for some of it to see if I've just been fiddling with low quality stuff.

I used to smoke loads of it and follow the Grateful Dead around. In retrospect I've come to believe that scene probably WAS a large group of autistic spectrum people hanging out together. LSD was amazingly beneficial for me as well. I don't do them anymore, and I don't hang out with people anymore either. Hmmm.

It's THC (the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana - supposedly) in a capsule form, and it is legal to prescribe and buy it in the U.S. even if fat doobies happen to be illegal for medicinal use in your state.

The "supposedly" is because medicinal marijuana advocates claim that it isn't as effective as smoking a fat doobie. I wouldn't know because I have never tried marinol. I have, however, smoked lots of pot in my day.
