Question on Social Cognition
Imagine that there was a pill that would temporarily transform a neurotypical into someone with very high functioning autism. During that temporary transformation, the individual would remember what it was like to be a neurotypical.
Questions:
1. If a person were to take this imaginary pill, how would it change how they interact with others (family, friends, or acquaintances)? Would they notice? Would others notice? Would their behavior temporarily alter (towards adopting restricted, repetitive patterns of behavior) to compensate?
2. Would the situation be different for an extrovert or introvert?
1: I am sure they would notice. Others may notice or not depending on how much attention they're paying. Most people aren't perceptive enough to notice something so temporary. They might have a feeling in the back of their head that something is off and those who are very perceptive might make a comment but I think most people wouldn't be that perceptive.
2. I think the change would be less noticeable in an introvert.
