Something hit me yesterday - pretty much my whole life I've allowed others to influence how I wish to live my life...and it's all because my behaviour was not very accommodating to them.

And frankly, I don't think this should ever be acceptable. I don't think you should ever have to change just to try and match what society expects of you.

To some extent.

I aspire to associate with people who should be "good" for me, and if I fail to fit in with them, it only hurts.

I could associate with people more accepting of me, but often they tend to be a negative influence, so I'm better off not surrounding myself with "enablers" for my bad habits.
