About half an hour ago, I was completing my maths prep with help from my maths teacher. Her form class was there too. I drank a cup of coffee as I felt tired and needed the extra energy boost. I usually drink a small cup of white coffee with my breakfast. Then about halfway through solving the questions, I started to feel slightly light-headed and it began to feel like my mind was racing at one hundred miles per hour and couldn't concentrate at much. Nor could I think properly (my mental arithmetics started to go wrong which rarely happens). Then it was as if someone had turned a knob that controls my hypersensitivity to sound up. I could suddenly hear just about everything in the room: the other students in the room chattering, students outside etc. It was overwhelming that I ended up shutting down instead.

I don't quite know how to describe how I'm feeling at the moment, but I want this to end and for everything to go back to normal. I've been playing Jurassic Park theme music on repeat and stimming to calm myself down.

Does anyone else experience this with caffeine?

I do experience a rush of sorts. If I drink it in the morning for a while, I find it hard to get any sleep the following night. I think I might actually be sensitive to caffeine, so I've actually stopped drinking it for those reasons. D:

Nope. I have almost no reaction to caffeine except that I know I like it. People drink this stuff for energy? I drink the stuff and then go to bed, sleep 8 hours, and wake up feeling fine. It doesn't matter much whether I drink three cups or three 12-cup pots.

Furthermore, I don't need much sleep either with or without the coffee. I wake up after 6 hours, and I can go coffee-free for the day and be fine. I can wake up after 8 hours and be fine. If I sleep too long over 8, I wake up feeling extremely sore.

And also, I can go 3 nights at a time without sleep without a drop of coffee. I'm actually not exaggerating, here. I haven't done it in years, though. The most I've done lately is 2.

I think my adenosine receptors are just completely numb.

I LOVE caffeine. I'm also a Mormon and while caffeine isn't actually against any rules, it's very much frowned upon. So I just kind of drink it when I can as long as my mother and friends don't find out. I love the taste and feel of RedBull especially. It doesn't make me hypersensitive in a bad way, but it improves my vision and makes me more alert. If I drink it when I'm not tired I get just a tad shaky especially if I haven't had it in awhile. One interesting and I believe unusual effect it has on me is that when I'm on caffeine I actually turn my head much faster. It might not make sense if you didn't know what I was talking about but I'm saying if I'm looking at something and then turn my head elsewhere I turn it very, very quickly in this somewhat jerky motion. The whole 'improves vision' thing is probably what I like most about it.

I drink breakfast tea with milk everyday and it doesn't seem to have any effect, maybe eating something refreshing like fruits would end this

I haven't noticed better hearing from caffeine.

I'm sensitive to all drugs, I didn't drink alcohol or coffee regularly because of how strong the effects are. I attribute that to sensory issues from autism.

Now on medication I am extremely sensitive to caffeine and alcohol to the point where i cant even have a glass of beer or 1/4 a cup of coffee.

It's truly a great thing.

When that happens, you need to eat something----I've had it happen to me. DON'T eat something sweet, though----just a plain ol' piece of bread is best.
