During the Holidays I would like to lock myself in my bedroom and not come out until January 2nd. Does anyone else on the Spectrum experience this reaction?

1.) I dislike gift giving, only seem to think of things that a purposeful. Like blankets, socks, gift cards.
2.) I don't understand the whole decoration thing. A tree in the house?
3.) Over eating.
4.) Spending too much money.
5.) Loud annoying music.
6.) Getting together with family members you dislike.
7.) Putting lights on the house!
8.) Sending out greeting cards that people will just throw away.
9.) Giving your boss a gift even if there a really jerk.
10.) Risking jail time for a toy your child just has to have.

Don't get me wrong, I think traditions are good. But do they have to include all of the above in the list?

It is just the worship of the worst parts of capitalism.

A couple years ago there was a NYE party at our house. I literally did lock myself in my room and not come out until the next day. I was far too miserable to want to be around anyone. Everyone just assumed I had gone out to another party or something and left me be, which was awesome.

Last NYE I spent the night at home by myself watching movies, had a drink, a smoke, stared at the stars & just relaxed. It was great.

This NYE I'll be working.. at a bar, with live music, and potentially hundreds of people - however, I have a feeling that it won't be very busy since the place is only a couple months old. But you never know, the last couple days have been very busy and maybe a lot more of these people from the surrounding neighbourhood are planning on spending NYE at the bar instead of in their condos? Could be 300+ people, buuuut, I doubt it. I'm expecting fewer. Either way, even if it's dead and I'm just hanging out with other staff most of the night it'll still be alright. 8)

As for your list:

1.) I like gift giving. Present shopping is the only shopping I truly enjoy all year long. My list this year grew to 33 people + 6 stocking stuffers for the staff at a friend's restaurant. (Staff hang stockings, regulars fill them up with stuff.) I like giving some practical gifts, but I also buy pretty things for the sake of pretty things sometimes. I try to buy things that suit the recipient very well and usually do a great job of it. I always win Christmas & Birthdays. :D
2.) Decorations are OK to me, I don't mind looking at them and enjoy some of them.. but I can't be bothered to decorate myself lol. Others in the household do it, though.
3.) I only slightly overeat during the holidays. I eat a really strict healthy diet all year long, so adding a couple treats over the holidays isn't going to kill me.
4.)Um, yeeeeah.. between thanksgiving and Christmas I likely spent 3x what I paid for my car on gifts for others. I'm definitely in the spending too much money club. But, it's all cash w/ no debt so whatever. I do it because I want to. I buy for my God kids & nephews and all their siblings and step siblings etc. Also for my immediate family and their significant others. And for a handful of friends, and also for my close friend's parents & siblings as of last year and this. I started Christmas shopping online September 1st this year in order to get it all done on time & on budget.
5.) I don't care for hearing annoying songs over and over.. but I don't mind hearing Christmas carols a bit here and there while shopping or at work or on the radio in my car. This is one modern Christmas song I actually like.. yeah, go ahead and call me gay - I am. :P https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUjn3RpkcKY And this is the song I'm calling my New Year's song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DD0A2plMSVA Lyrics in English: http://lyricstranslate.com/en/alles-neu ... new.html-0
6.) I like my family members, for the most part. Even the ones that aren't exactly role models are OK to be around for a day during the holidays. The ones that no one likes to be around never ever come to these things anyways. Why spend your holidays around people you don't like? If you don't like them, why invite them?
7.) I kinda like seeing the lights, but can't be bothered to hang my own. Again, someone else in the household hung the lights.
8.)I only bought two cards this year which I'll hand deliver. One for my grandmother who is 93, and a religious one for my close friend's parents. I might have mailed maybe one or two Christmas cards in my life. Can't be bothered. My mom still does this, though.. but it's getting expensive at $1/stamp now.
9.) My bosses are great. I brought a bunch of homemade baking to share at work today. I don't buy bosses gifts, though.
10.) Why would you risk jail time to obtain a toy? How would you risk jail time for a toy?? Just go buy it if you can afford it AND the kid deserves it.
