http://www.komonews.com/news/local/Auti ... 41471.html - This guy lives fairly close to where I am. I will try and send him something to make him happy! But what should I say? Hmmm....... (PM me your suggestions only.)

I've put together a package for him this evening. I'll be sending him a Sweet Pea and a few other things.

That mailing address is one city block away from where I pick up my mail in Blaine when I go across the border to retrieve parcels I've ordered online. I wouldn't even have to pay for postage - I could just drop something off there. Hmmm.

FYI I live approx 10 miles North of there on the Canadian side of the border.

I accidentally bought a movie that I already had, and it's still in its wrapper, so I'm gonna send him that, and a purple pin (cuz I have a life-long obsession with purple) for him to stick in his map, on Baltimore.

I'll be sending him a green pin, because I'm a Sweet Pea. :D :P

I might send him something too, but I'm not sure. I kind of want to send him a letter about myself being autistic, and then giving him a small gift. I just don't know if my parents will let me. We have our on Christmas to worry about.

This story, when I first brought it up.... really made want to do something good. Mission accomplished.

I don't suppose it matters if he receives it after Christmas does it?

Nah.. might be even better, really, because chances are he'll still like receiving mail & won't get very much of it after Christmas.

I wish there was another way to do it, because my parents refuse to let me send mail to strangers, no matter how worthy they may be.

Why?

Seems odd. They do know that they can send it anonymously, right? They don't have to put a return address on the letter. You don't have to sign your last name to the letter, either. Heck, you could use your forum name if you wanted.

Or do they just feel it's a waste of time & money to do something like this? Or are too busy to go buy a stamp or go to a post office?

Just seems a little strange to me that someone would be opposed to dropping a letter in the mail. Maybe it's just that almost no one mails anything but parcels anymore and so they just think it's a waste of time doing something special for a stranger vs. making that effort to send something to someone they know and care about? I'm just guessing, of course.

There's another way to do it & I thought of it on my drive to work this morning.

You type up whatever letter you'd like to mail to him & sign it off however you'd like, name only, forum alias only, anonymous, add your return address if you want & it's ok with your parents etc. Then email me the text file, I'll print it off & put it in an envelope, seal it up & hand deliver it to the mailbox place where they have a post office box set up for him when I go across the border into Washington state during business hours.

That goes the same for anyone else on these forums. Especially for those who cannot get to a post office for whatever reason or cannot afford to spend the money on postage. A few sheets of paper, ink, and empty envelopes will cost me very little & the address is only about a city block away from the mail receiving service I use anyways.

Just typed up a quick one page letter to William and printed it off so I can hand deliver it to his mailbox this afternoon when I pop down across the line to pick up Christmas parcels and some cheap groceries in Canada's Mexico. :P

If anyone else from the forums would like to get a letter to William but can't mail one for any reason, type it up and email it over to me and I'll print it off, seal it in an envelope, and get it to his mailbox. 8)

This is a good idea. I will PM you in the next few days. :D

Sounds good to me, I still have to go down there to pick up parcels again in a couple weeks.. but may make a trip sooner, too.

If anyone else wants to type something up I'll print it off & deliver it. 8)
