When I'm talking, I can't ever keep my speech flowing and keep having to pause every couple words to find the next words (I say "um" like literally between every word). And I'm constantly forgetting what I'm saying while in the middle of a sentence. And my mind is always blank so I never even know what to say (it's not just anxiety because I have all the same problems when by myself).

When I try to talk to myself I can't keep a thought flowing. Is this a sign of asperger's and what can I do to improve?

I do that too, usually just when I'm talking to others though.

It could be ADHD if it happens that much. Or perhaps sleep deprivation. Getting more sleep helps me with it.

Same problem

It is part of autism because I always had trouble communicating since i was younger. one word sentences, long pauses, word finding difficulties, difficulties focusing because of sensory distractions (noise, visual stimuli), becoming fatigued when listening to someone talk, having trouble understanding instructions, monotone voice, rigid professor vocabulary, pronunciation problems.

I avoid placeholders such as like or um like the plague although my vernacular demeanor is hysterically inconsistent. Despite years of speech-language pathology practice & analysis my voice sounds different to me & probably everyone else day to day. For all I know though it could be the same the whole time and I'm just hearing my tinnitus intermittently.

You sure about that? Because I don't see it as a diagnosis criteria for autism. Maybe it's something else that's also common among autistics? And I haven't really talked to anyone in like 5 years, so maybe it's just the lack of practice for me.

But how do I improve? Don't say to talk to more people, because currently I can only say a few words so I can't even have a conversation. Basically I can't seem to turn my thoughts into words, since they're usually made up of sound and images. Well either it's that, or I just can't think fast enough, or I have too many thoughts going on at once, or something... i have no idea

Have you taken drugs? If so, what?

I was just posting some ancestral psytrance in my weird music thread. ^ Seems you'd have a lot to add...
