My parents thought I had some type of autism when I was little. BUT THEY NEVER GOT ME TESTED!!? I tried to talk to my mom about it but she just lead me off the subject. I know my parents won't believe me I need THE SOLID TRUTH . Is their a way I can accidently get diagnosed .

You could go to a psychologist for, say, an ADHD assessment--and they find that you are (primarily) autistic instead.

Perhaps go to your school counsellor on the pretext of wanting to discuss some issue or other, then mention specifically or indirectly that you've wondered if autism is the cause: if the counsellor brings up the idea of testing to your parents, they may be more receptive.

That's a good way. Happened to me like that. Was seeing a psychotherapist for depression and anxiety disorder. On the third appointment he said, 'Have you ever heard of Aspergers?'.

Just go in and talk about your problems you are having and list what your symptoms are and they might say you are autistic. I am not sure if mine was an accident because my mom never took me in and say "I think my daughter has Asperger's" and start talking about my problems but instead it got brought up by my therapist and my mom asked to have an expert look it over.

There really isn't an accidentally diagnosis where I live. You could get into melt down mode and hauled off to the ER. You might get sectioned, but even then the best you hope for is anxiety/depression/OCD diagnosis.

The psychologists around here who pimp their ADHD businesses usually do not diagnosis Autism.

The problem is, unless you are specifically looking for Autism testing, the run of the mill shrink/psychologist will not offer it up. You'll get some common DSM diagnosis and maybe ADHD/ADD.

Autism is the last thing that a doctor will hunt for, especially in an adult, so the chances of you "accidentally" being tested are slim. Even more so if you have been marginally passing as a NT for years.

In my area only three doctors do the Autism gold standard testing on adults and have 6-10 month waiting list.

Wish I had better news...

Couldn't you actively seek autism testing? Then, if the psychiatrist said you had autism, you would have an official diagnosis.
