Or just, weird things in general?

I've always had my one positive obsession, for the past five years it has been the music that I listen to, and I don't ever want that to change.
Accompanying that, I've always had a shorter-lived "negative" obsession. One that I cannot stand to think about. One that makes no sense at all, and that I hate.
For example... When I was about 12, I noticed that my neighbour had a really weird nose. I thought about it for a while, and the image of that particular nose became engraved in my brain. Within the next few days, I became obsessed with his nose, and then it evolved into an obsession with noses in general. This obsession lasted around a year, running parallel to my positive obession of Pokemon, although Pokemon lasted two years, and overlapped yet another negative obsession, over hiccups.
I do not learn about my negative obsessions on purpose, but I retain any knowledge I learn about them. I don't want to think about them like I want to think about my positive obsessions, I just end up thinking about them. They're stupid, annoying, weird, and shameful. (Why would anyone enjoy being obsessed over noses or hiccups?)

Before you suggest obsessive-compulsive disorder -- no. This is almost the same as my positive obsession, except it is negative and I hate it.

Also, assuming I am not a total freak, does anyone have any tips to help me get over my negative obsessions? It annoys me that I have them.

Closest I got to this was an obsession with demonology, but that was very short lived. I was terrified by the thought of such things at the time, which oddly, impelled me to find out more, but then it has been said that people with AS will often become obsessed with things they fear. I have never had any kind of obsession close to yours though, I don't think.

My nose is a little on the big side, but it is tolerable. I don't think they have anything to do with self-image.

I'm obsessed with being on the net right now. I don't like it.

Demons on the other hand are nothing to fear. They can be quite playful.

Not according to the literature out there about them, lol... having said that.. well, I wont speak of it here because a certain person seems to take pleasure in attacking anything remotely spiritually based or paranormal simply because it cannot yet be explained by that wonderful answerall(NOT!), science!

I get obsessed all the time. That kind of sums up my life. If its not one thing, its another. My thing now is chemical sensitivity and avoiding toxins. Another biggy for me is assuming the worst, and then acting as if it had happened. Example. Theres this beautiful girl that was always at the coffeehouse i go to every morning. We’re on the same schedule. And I think she's an aspie, but I havent had the courage to do anything more than say good morning. So the other day I attempt a conversation, basically suck at it, and leave feeling really stupid. Then for the next four mornings she's not at the coffeehouse for the first time ever, and I start thinking I embarrassed her and she's doing coffee somewhere else. And I went into a depression. I hated myself for four days, totally obsessed over it, then the fifth day she was back at the coffeehouse after a ski vacation and said hi with a big smile and beautiful tan.

How pathetic is that.

But it can be anything. I dont obsess over whats next. :)

Going on my latest obssession, the Undertaker....well, at first it was just a "Cool, I know that wrestler....god he looks old..." and then I decided since I was getting into wrestling to take a closer look at a few of them and I got obssessed but I really tried not to.

*shrugs*

Yes, sometimes someone will point something superficial out to me offhandedly (e. g. "hey, you don't have a ____" or "you have a weird looking _____") and from then on in I can't help but notice that feature on other people.

I was obsessed with Nuclear Weapons very strongly in my teens and I can't say I like them particularly. They fascinate me but they frighten me more.

yeah i can relate to that,
although with getting older i managed to learn myself to stop such obsessions (in fact i just tell it to myself "stop doing this" and it works, after a lot of practising of course)

what is more inconvenient is when obsessions obstruct your life, but i suppose that's what makes AS difficult to live sometimes.

I can get obsessively annoyed or angry at people, over something, and not want to ever forgive them. That can be a problem with me.

seems to be women I don't like. Well, maybe the right word is shouldn't. I'm not entirely sure what that emotion is. Best comparison I can come up with is the whole moth to a flame thing.

Or that idiot Icarus. "OOH LOOK BRIGHT SHINY HOT OBJECT!"
