Hiding in Plain Sight: Sensory Tools
So, I've made a few posts about getting sensory stuff. One of the things I've tried while visiting my wife's school is those nubbed cushions for kids with ADHD/Autism.
I'd been putting it off because I want to get a vest and they cost £19.99, plus postage and card payment fee.
Much to my surprise, someone on my roller derby team made a post about balance cushions and how they're really great for improving weak ankles and core muscle strength. She said they were selling for £4.99 in Lidl and she was willing to pick them up.
This got me thinking - rather than trying to find sensory tools which are subtle enough not be noticed, why not go the other way and pick something really obvious but say it's for another use (e.g., exercise).
What other sensory do you think could be 'disguised' as something mundane?
Interesting concept. I have often taken books with me when I go places, partly to read for my own pleasure, but also partly to avoid having to interact with others--to shut out the rest of the world.
