Query: Do you get told you don't smile a lot?

My domestic partner constantly accuses me of not doing this enough or at all. Very Often times they will smile (with fingers to either side of their mouth) in an attempt to get me to smile and be happy (normally I just look serious).

After a while though , this gets really REALLY on my nerves. I don't feel I look or act negative, yet they constantly harp that I am indeed actually a negative appearing person.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Ugh, yes, I hate this.

Granted, in my case, I *am* pretty negative much of the time; it's just the way I am. But even so, I hear that line alot. And even when I do smile, I'm not "really" smiling because my teeth arent showing.

Nobody stops to think that maybe I just have bad teeth, which I do. If I did that it'd be like being smiled at by a vampire that has never heard of dentistry.

Not to mention, really, I'm just not going to smile if I dont feel like it. I dunno why it's so hard for people to understand.

I noticed that I don't smile as much as other people do. I am very positive and optimistic and laugh easily, but I don't smile a lot, especially at strangers. Usually there need to be something funny for me to smile. I think NTs smile for all sorts of reasons. Occasionally if I smiled at DH, he's like "Uh oh, what is it?"

I do the small forced closed-mouth smile while exchanging pleasantries. No idea how genuine it looks. Other than that, yeah I'm pretty sure I walk around looking like I've got a rain cloud over my head 99% of the time even if all is well. I get told comments about looking down or unapproachable, but never a comment directly about smiling too little.

I smile a lot, I just do it for no reason most of the time and sometimes I don't even notice it.
A few months ago a teacher asked me if I just was very exited about the assignment because I started smiling, I said that I just sometimes randomly start smiling for no reason and I heard classmates laugh in the background.

Yeah, I guess my neutral face doesn't reflect happiness or something. I get told to smile! every now and then, even when I feel positive emotions.

Response: No, but I don't think I emote as much as others expect. I have a naturally soft face.

I get told I don't smile much but people also ask me what I'm smiling about when I do because my smile looks weird or something.

I don't really smile much but when i approach people that i find appealing, i smile at them for 5 seconds but then going back to my neutral face. Just the way i am.

I smile a lot, I am good at smiling, I smile naturally, not on purpose.

I have been told the same thing on not smiling. I will be working and having a good day and am happy but apparently my face just does not show it. However, I also been told never to learn to play poker because my always gives me away..... So no idea otherwise what is up there. Lol

I'm told that I look 'depressed' or 'upset' a lot, so I probably don't smile often.

I got told constantly by my family that I didn't smile enough growing up. Now when someone tells me to smile I just tell them to shove it. I'm not a smiley person. I smile when something is really really funny or when I'm super happy. Sometimes I force a smile out when I'm trying to (usually unsuccessfully) flirt with the opposite sex, but that's about it. I don't walk around with a smile on my face.

I rarely smile. In fact it takes something very funny (and it has to be a "funny" that I understand) to smile. I watched all the Red Dwarf "smeg ups" on Youtube recently and I did smile a couple of times at the really crazy smeg ups.
