Losing jewelry constantly?
Now that I am older, and I change up my jewelry more, I tend to lose or break it a lot. My hands shake a lot and when I'm putting in earrings, a lot of the time the backs fall off and get lost, or sometimes the whole piece. I have a habit of wearing rings that are too small for my fingers, and then have to bend and damage them to take them off because I've lost circulation. Or I'll wear loose rings that fall off or I'll forget them in the public restrooms after taking them off. Because of this, I've resigned to mostly cheaper jewelry now, but I have a lot of real gold, diamonds, and other good stuff given to me by family, and some of it is antique. For example, I have a pair of diamond studs that are over 70 years old. I've tried picking out things I feel comfortable wearing and possibly losing, and I attempted to entrust the rest of my good stuff to my mother but she refuses to hold on to it until I find all the stuff I lost. I've tried moving furniture and everything and it's gone.
How do I become more responsible with my things?

Do you have a jewelry box you can use to put all your jewelry in? You should also keep a list of things that you have so you might not forget them. If you have any jewelry that do not really fit you, you should sell them to a pawn shop or a jewelry store. If you want jewelry that fits you, you should go to a jewelry store and find the ones that are right for you (and must fit correctly). And even if you were talking to people or just minding your own business in general, you still have to be aware of what jewelry you have on. I'm not really much of a jewelry fan, but that's pretty much what I do whenever I lose stuff or give away anything that I don't really need anymore.
I do hope what I said would help you.
Rings that don't fit can be resized by a jeweler. Or you can have an adjuster added to a loose ring, to make it fit tighter. Don't take them off during the day, unless you are putting them away in a jewelry box. If a ring or any other piece is too uncomfortable to wear all day, just don't wear it.
When you take earrings on/off, stand over something where you can see them if they fall, like maybe over the bed, or over a large table.
If you wear the same jewelry consistently, it's easier to notice if a piece is missing. Like if you want to wear rings, pick out the ones you like best and wear them on the same fingers all the time. The more you are used to wearing the same thing, the faster you will notice if something is missing, because you begin to feel naked without it.
I don't wear any jewelry to bed. I put it on after my morning shower (if I'm going out) and I take it off before my evening shower. It all goes in the same place, in a big jewelry chest. If I have to take something off any other time, I make sure to put it in a safe place.
If you have any cats, they are notorious jewelry thieves.
Sometimes people lose jewelry for symbolic reasons. I used to lose an earring every time I went through a break-up or other romantic disappointment.
